So in a case where say whitey and mantle or say lefty grove and jimmy fox .. are in different divisions , does that mean both divisions can draft all the other yankees or A s for that year .. except the hall of famers ?
That is the way I understand it. . . .each 4-team division can take anyone from those 4 rosters except any of the 48 HOF's that were initially drafted.
Really 8 rosters ? No , im also wondering do the divisions change everyseason like with randon alignment
Sorry you are correct, there will be 8 rosters to choose from. . . . . .

Earl Averill 1929 Cleveland Indians

I'll take Tim Raines, 1981 Expos

He had a lot of good teammates and a lot of good seasons.

Okay, this the pick I was waiting. for.

I will pick my pitcher now. Steve Carlton ($261,640).

My strategy was, obviously, to get the lowest salary and the first pick of teammates. With my two picks I will probably be first next season, too.

Now watch it come back to bite me in the butt.

I sure hope I am in kallison1's division so I can pick...You know who.

Sometimes it will be better to pick #1 - sometimes it might be better to pick #4 and #5 .

In a loaded draft...I would agree.
Serpentine can suck at times especially with 24 drafting.
Not so bad when there are only four.

What should be fun about this league is every season will be a completely different draft challenge. With different division-mates and rosters, you can't really plan ahead at all. You just have to make the best of the pool and your spot.

I suppose that if you drafted two guys with generally big salaries, you won't draft 1st much if ever. But you'll also already have two players who might be better than anyone in the draft anyway, so you won't be too sad. Looking forward to seeing how it shapes up!

Yup, that's what scared me away from Gehrig, basically gifting you know who to a divisional opponent

No doubt. But you also get Gehrig every season, and he's awfully good, too. Better some years even.

An FYI - you know who's 1927 season is $14mil - Gehrig's 1927 season is $19 mil.............so who would you rather have????????

Some good banter going on here. Now you know why I set up the drafting by division. Your HOF players are the backbone to your Team but your Teammates and those of your divisional opponents may actually be more important. I seriously thought of taking Goose Gossage or Rollie Fingers as my pitcher since they'd more than likely give me the 1st pick of teammates due to their lower salaries going forward. There will be a lot of average type players making it onto rosters.

Definitely thought about that also, was really hard for me not to take my childhood fav Reggie.

I have always had really great results for many different Mel Ott seasons.

I was in the 500 HR progressive league where I used every one of Mel's seasons. Unfortunately I will not have the services of teammate Carl Hubbell.

Carlton while not so great is a consistent innings eater on some very good teams. I think getting enough quality innings pitched will be the biggest challenge in this league.
