And Bill Russell, who led the league in def win shares 10 straight seasons...by a huge margin...is still a 70.

Sample size of one, but still have given no money to WIS pending the 16-17 player release. Played a couple of seasons off point credits, but it's been, what, since mid-April that the NBA regular season ended? WIS's delay is saving me a fair amount of pocket change.

except for his final season when he was named to the All NBA defensive squad in the first year that that honor was awarded

and keep in mind that Russell's D rating is derived from his stl/blk% numbers which WIS made up from whole cloth since those stats were not tracked in Bill's day (which is to imply they could maintain the 'integrity' of their algorithm and still get Billl where he needs to be by increasing those made up numbers to something approximating the numbers suggested by contemporary accounts of his acumen if that were their 'concern' - give him 400+ blocks, why not?)

Exactly...WIS really missed out. This is probably the most anticipated NBA stat season since WIS has been in business and I really couldn't care less at this point.

I believe that has been the WifS business model for the past
few years. Winning!

The NBA sim's heyday was over 10 years ago...a ton of people left already.

Oh I agree with that, but we had a good amount of people for the ODL and now that can't even fill.

This is all interesting sh**. Didn't think I would get so many going when I started the post. I hope WIS realize this indicates the level of interest that's now turned to disappointment & angst.

Bill Russell's DEF ratings basically all being in the 70s is ridiculous btw.

They don't care. They've p*ssed on the NBA SIM and it's users for a decade. They're probably upset we haven't all disappeared already.

I have a friend that used to play on here that quit because of all of the outliers and ridiculousness. He has/created his own NBA sim (it's not active that you can play anywhere or anything) so I asked him what he thought about Bill Russell's DEF rating. After much research and contemplation, he made a special exception for Bill Russell and gave him a 110 rating for each season since he was such a dominant defensive force and so clearly won the defensive win share "championships" throughout his career...and WIS has him at 70 for most of his career...unreal. Their system is messed up because they say his best DEF season was 1968-69, only because that was the first year of the all-defensive team(s).

So about Bill Russell's defensive win share statistics...
