Sorry- can I change my guy to Phil Lombardi - Catcher? Still 1989 Mets, just switching from pitcher to a hitter.

Literally hundreds of choices available. I wonder if anyone will go for catcher Keith McDonald, who got brief cups of coffee with the Cardinals in both 2000 and 2001 (Albert Pujols's rookie season). McDonald holds the distinction of being the only player in MLB history to record 3 hits in his career, with all 3 of them being home runs. Now that's a backstory you could have some fun with!

One of the more fun teams I've drafted

bump

Which reminds me... Bump Wills was teammates with a southpaw named John Poloni on the 1977 Texas Rangers. Poloni appeared in two games in his career, winning one. Maybe you can give him the glory days he never received by inserting him into a rotation with Gaylord Perry, Bert Blyleven, Doyle Alexander and Dock Ellis.

I don't mind offering you (and any others) a few suggestions:

LHP Pete Naktenis (1936 Phillies, 1939 Reds)
SS Jimy Williams (1966-'67 Cardinals)
LHP Jesse Hudson (1969 Mets)
RHP Dick Bates (1969 Pilots)
OF Luis Silverio (1978 Royals)
OF Bob Skube (1982-'83 Brewers)
OF Ozzie Canseco (1990 A's, 1992-'93 Cardinals)
RHP Pat Rice (1991 Mariners)
RHP Heath Haynes (1994 Expos)
SS Pablo Martinez (1996 Braves)
C Keith McDonald (2000-'01 Cardinals)
SS Jason Alfaro (2004 Astros)
RHP Bryan Augenstein (2009 Diamondbacks, 2011 Cardinals)

My suggestion is that you find a roster that interests you, then check the full team roster on baseball-reference.com to see if the team featured any rookies who only got a few ABs or a few IPs. If they didn't get enough ABs or IPs in any season to merit inclusion in the WIS player catalog, then you can use that player as your ghost.

I hope that helps.

Because I'm all but certifiably insane...

Throw me in with Jim Asbell of the 1938 Cubs. A team with no decent pitching, playing in Wrigley...

So the Donny Macs made the playoffs in season 1, then fizzled, as I predicted....

Going to make a "comeback" with the Greg Leggings (aka inf Greg Legg Phillies 1986)
