S133 D-II End of Season Topic

Currently: Week 11

TOP 15 TEAMS

#1 Ferris State 10-0 WIS #1 Rating 68
Update: Still holding

What a year coachoatie is having in the GLIAC. Featuring the #2 offense and #13 defense, he has done a great job game planning wins over Virginia State 51-6, Ouachita Baptist 73-3, Northern Michigan 30-27 and Saginaw Valley State 41-21. With 2 more human games left, they should be a lock in the Conference Championship.

#2 Northern Michigan 9-1 WIS #5 Rating 71
Update: Big game AT Saginaw Valley State is tonight. Winner is clear to appear in the CC.

Clearly the front runner where talent is concerned boasting the #1 Offense and Defense. Having played 4 human opponents, they had a somewhat close win over Fort Lewis 34-23, big win over Saint Joseph's 55-13 and lost to Ferris State 30-27. Coach spthibodeau has both the experience and team to overcome the loss and is my pick to return to the NC this season. However, they still have to face a tough Saginaw Valley State team in week 11.

#3 Cheyney 10-0 WIS #6 Rating 69
Update: They picked up a win over Missouri-Rolla 40-21 in what appeared to be closer than it probably was. Cheyney racked up 600+ yards and put in some ground work to control the game.
waregl72 is in his first season, he has recruited excellent and is currently running 8-0. His schedule is very light facing all sims but has not hurt him in the rankings. They will play Missouri-Rolla (Rating 61) in week 10 but should win this game with no problem based on the talent advantage. Top teir talent across the board, we will have to wait until the playoffs to see who they are.

#4 Texas A&M Commerce 10-0 WIS #12 Rating 68
Update: Still holding

Having won 2 games versus humans, their test will be in week12 when they face conference rival Angelo State under new leadership jawz. Jawz has his team running well, so we will see then. TAMC looks to be well balanced this year with the #4 Offense and #6 Defense.

#5 Saint Joseph's 9-1 WIS #9 Rating 68
Update: Big game tonight versus Morehouse. CC appearance is on the line.

After the loss to Northern Michigan 55-13, tutank has been steady the rest of the way. There was a closer than normal win over a SIM team 20-3 which caught us off guard, but tutank has the playoff experience. Boasting the #4 defense in the nation and not finishing less than the quarterfinals over the last 3 seasons, you should expect to see them make a deep push when it matters.

#6 Presbyterian 9-1 WIS #15 Rating 68
Update: Big game tonight AT Tusculum (10-0). CC appearance is on the line.

Tough loss for them in week 5 vs Ouachita Baptist (Rating 61) 24-19 in a surprising upset. It needs to be noted that OB was led by Chetty who is an excellent game planner and probably caught them by surprise. Rposborne has loads of playoff experience and the #2 defense in the league. I would except him to have everything clicking by the Conference Championship which should be against head coach dawgnuts at Shepard (Rating 64). Before reaching the CC, he has to get his team in gear to take on clememp at Tusculum (Rating 66) in a tough week 11 matchup.

#7 Valdosta State 10-0 WIS #2 Rating 67
Update: Still Holding.

It's hard to not rank a champ83 team higher, but this rank is more based off their team's ranking and they haven't really played anyone yet. They did beat 3 human teams but, but we will not be able to evaluate them until the Conference Championship vs Ouachita Baptist (Chetty).

#8 Winona State 10-0 WIS #7 Rating 67
Update: Still Holding

They are playing an all sim schedule, so not much can be said yet. As of now, we have to look at a team that has the #5 defense and made it to the quarterfinals the last 3 out of 4 seasons. We will re-evalute in the first round of the playoffs.

#9 Saginaw Valley State 9-1 WIS #11 Rating 67
Update: Big Game vs Northern Michigan (9-1) tonight. The winner goes to the CC.

Given the right circumstances, ojpicks team this year could make a very deep run in the playoffs. They don't have a top 5 offense/defense but both sides are in the Top Ten and well balanced. Not only that, they are going to have some battle experience, having faced Ferris State (loss) 41-21 and will head up against NMU in week 11. 3-1 versus human teams and a high WIS ranking, we should see them in the playoffs even if they lose one more.

#10 Midwestern State 10-0 WIS #22 Rating 66
Update: Nice win over Adam State 52-2. They held their opponent to less than 200 total yards.

Linux_Box has had the playoff curse with 4 consecutive 2nd round playoff losses. I think this will be the year that he pushes deeper. They are close enough talent wise that they can contend with all the teams and their offense and defense are both top 10. They face 4 human teams this season, but should win out and their CC game will be versus Fort Lewis or Mesa State (Both Rated 63) which may give us more insight in where they stand.

#11 North Carolina Central 9-1 WIS #7 (Rated 66)
Update: Still holding. They are in a great position for the playoffs.

Scary team to meet in the 1st round of the playoffs, they have solid top 10 defense. Game to watch is week 12 at Winston-Salem State (wfudd77).

#12 Tusculum 10-0 WIS #4 (Rated 66)
Update: Tonight is the night to capture a CC appearance vs Presbyterian (9-1). A win tonight is huge for this program.

This team should make it the playoffs and is a very balanced squad. They will need to get through Presbyterian to have a shot at the Conference Championship. Solid trips offense with good WR's.

#13 West Chester 10-0 WIS #3 (Rated 65)
Update: Nice win over Bloomsburg (5-5) 37-6. This team is going to get a great seed in the playoffs. No one else stands in the way, we will see them next in the CC.

Great coach in 2000champou with lots of experience but this team has suffered the 2nd round playoff curse the last 3 seasons. Will this be the year to make it deeper? Bloomsburg (jms245) will be their first test in week 10 and possibly Edinboro (vhoward415) in the Conference Championship. This team should be a lock for the playoffs and have a nice seed.

#14 Fort Lewis 9-1 WIS #10 (Rated 63)
Update: Nice win over Adams State today 34-3.

Head coach justp3ach3y leads a team that I thought may make some noise this season. Their win over Virginia State earlier in the season 38-7, close loss to Northern Michigan 34-24 and a convincing win over Adams State 34-3 should grant them a playoff spot even if they lost once. Mesa State (10-0) is the only team in their way to make the Conference Championship.

#15 Virginia State 8-2 WIS #24 (Rated 65)
Update: Moving up in the WIS ranks which was needed. Still holding.

This one was a tough pick for me because there are some teams that are playing really well who could also be here. Coral_reefer has done a great job with them and finished in the quarterfinals last season. However, they already have 2 loses to Ferris State 51-6 and Fort Lewis 38-7. Their WIS ranking is also very low and it's putting them closer to a must win situation in the CC versus a tough North Carolina Central team.

Next up if someone slips...

Humboldt State 9-1 WIS #26 (Rated 65)
Update: Lost a tough game versus Central Washington (7-3) 20-13. With only sim opponents on the schedule, it's a tough spot to be in. They will probably still sneak in depending on some of the head to head game outcomes and the 2 SIM's ranked inside the top 30.

Really low WIS ranking makes this team a sleeper if they make it in. All they need to do is win over Central Washington (5-3) and win the CC and they should be good. They will need to win over Nebraska-Omaha (jbob23) who is having a cenderella season. I would think their WIS ranking will improve enough to make them a 4 seed.

Angelo State 10-0 (Should make playoffs, a win over TAMC would be huge)

Shepard 10-0 (1 more human game, then goes to the CC).

Mesa State 10-0 (Lowest ranked 10-0 team is in control of their own destiny. They still face Adams State and Fort Lewis.)

Winston-Salem State 7-3 (Needs a win over North Carolina State to have a shot)

I updated the current status up to Week 11.

There are some great games that have Conference Championship implications tonight for week 11

(9-1) Northern Michigan (spithbodeau) at (ojpick) Saginaw Valley State (9-1)
Both teams have potent scoring offenses but the key to this game is going to be defense. NMU has a 8 point core advantage overall when comparing their starting units. Only 1 team has held NMU's #1 offense below 30 points this season and Saginaw Valley State is going to have to do better than that to have a shot at winning this game. Because Ferris State offered a couple shut down corners and were able to slow NMU down, Saginaw will not be able to do the same.
Prediction: NMU 42-27.
Results: NMU Wins 41-20.
Summary: Both teams played well here, but in the end NMU's defense held strong and their offense racked up 500 yards of total offense.

(10-0) Morehouse (sportsdouche) at (tutank) Saint Joseph's (9-1)
It have been quite a season for Morehouse who's head coach sportsdouche took over a team that had back to back 1 win seasons. They are playing above their talent level so it could be interesting. However, Saint Joseph's has too much talent to let this one get away no matter how good sportsdouche has been coaching. Tutank takes full control of the conference and returns to dominant status.
Predicition St. Joseph 37-7.
Results: St. Joseph Wins 77-10.
Summary: The talent difference was too great here. Easy win for St. Josephs.

(9-1) Presbyterian (rposborne) at (clememp) Tusculum (10-0)
This is my favorite game of the week. Presbyterian has been under performing this year and features elite talent. Both teams will deliver a great offense, but the edge has to go to Presbyterian on defense, featuring probably the best secondary in D2. Besides their all-star secondary, they run the ND Box which is difficult to defense. The only weakness they have is at their QB which is a real question mark after their game versus Ouachita Baptist. Tusculum also has a great offense out of trips formation and their defense can apply pressure with a strong front four. I think this game could be a close one. Prediciton: Presbyterian 33-27.
Results: Tusculum Wins 24-19
Summary: Quarterback play of Presbyterian really had an impact. Only 21 completions on 44 passes and a crucial fumble in the 4th quarter sealed the deal for Tusculum.

My apologies for missing the Conference Championships, my work schedule interfered.

NORTH BRACKET

1ST ROUND
Predictions: 4-0

· Tusculum (Clememp) at Indianapolis (Sim AI)

What a season for Tusculum who will get a well earned break in the 1st round versus a SIM. They secure this spot by taking down Presbyterian 24-19 and winning the CC over Shepherd 42-29.

Prediction: Tusculum sails on 56-14 to the 2nd round with a easy win here.

RESULTS: Tusculum 17-12
The SIM team played a great game here, but Tusculum as expected moves on.

· MSU (Linux_Box) at Shepherd (dawgnuts)

The advantage goes to MSU, their QB and Defense, but Shepard has some nice weapons with their WR’s and RB’s. MSU struggled against the 3-4 and Shepherd presents a similar defense as Fort Lewis.

Prediction: Shepherd 31-27. This is a crap shoot, these two teams are close but those weapons on Shepherd and the game MSU had last week has me leaning Shepherd’s way.

RESULTS: Midwestern State 51-23.
It was 17-16 Shepard at the half, but MSU came out firing in the 2nd half and put up 35-6 to clinch the victory.

· Cheyney (waregl72) at OBU (chetty1963)

Waregl72 has a chance this game to size up his team in comparison to Ferris St. and Valdosta St who both beat OBU earlier this year. Chetty1963 has been able to get a lot out of OBU due to excellent game planning and had a major win over Presbyterian. The talent advantage is going to make the biggest difference, Cheyney is setup similar to the two teams OBU lost too.

Prediction: Chetty can game plan with the best of them, the talent spread is too large. Cheyney Wins 52-13

RESULTS: Cheyney Wins 41-0.

=

· Fort Lewis (justp3ach3y) at Findlay (bobbybd)

If we had a coach of the year award, head coach justp3ach3y may be the perfect nominee. Fort Lewis has offered Shock and Awe all season with a competitive loss to NMU 34-23, win over Virginia State 38-7 and won the Conference Championship 45-20 over Midwestern State. His team has some good talent but he has been game planning well and it’s making a difference. Bobbybd has done well rebuilding a Findlay program and reaches the playoffs for the first time. Both teams played a common opponent with Adams State and Fort Lewis had a more convincing win.

Prediction: Based on their season performance, Fort Lewis wins 44-17.

RESULTS: Fort Lewis 54-3.
Findlay couldn't get the offense going and was held to 192 total yards versus the near 700 yards by Fort Lewis.

1ST ROUND
Predictions: 4-0

· Valdosta State (Champ83) at Mesa State (rich4cards)

Nobody has been able to see how Valdosta St is this year until their last match versus OBU where they won 51-7. Their win is very comparable to Ferris St. who we know is a final four caliber team. With their defense is playing lights out this season, I got Champ83 making a run to the final four this year. Rich4cards is finishing their 3rd season and he has put together a solid team. Unfortunately, it was just bad luck to run into an elite team this early.

Prediction: Valdosta State win 63-7

RESULTS: Valdosta State 57-10
Champ83 continues to put little doubt in the critics mind that they will make the Final Four.

· Long Island (dmac1213) at Angelo State (jawz)

Dmac1213 is in his 2nd season at Long Island and captured the CC over Pace 33-19. They also beat Southern Connecticut 31-17. While they are the NE-10 champs, I’m not sure if they are ready to defense Angelo State’s 1-2 RB combo. Jawz took over Angelo State and has a lot of holes to over-come on the team he took over. What he has talent wise, he has used efficiently to produce a high powered offense. Long Island may not have the defense to slow him down.

Prediction: Angelo State wins 37-17

RESULTS: Angelo State Wins 59-30
Long Island played a solid first half and was trailing only 28-17. However, the 2nd half was all Angelo State putting up 31 to finish the game strong. An interesting move by Long Island to put up 300+ yards on the ground on 50+ attempts, versus Angelo State throwing 74 times for almost 700 yards. Great idea, but they couldn't control the clock enough.

· Winona State (kwheeler) at Presbyterian (rposborne)

I have to admit, I didn’t see West Liberty State coming and they won their CC over Winona State 16-13. I also didn’t see Presbyterian losing to Tusculum this season even though there was concern at QB. Even though I think Winona St. can compete with any of the teams in the tournament, Presbyterian has the playoff experience will rebound and move forward.

Prediction: Presbyterian 27-21

RESULTS: Presbyterian Wins 33-9.
I really thought this game would be closer and both teams stat wise were very similar. The difference came down to turnovers and 2 out of the 3 turnovers Winona gave up happened in the 1st quarter. Trailing 23-6 at the half, their defense improved in the 2nd half but their offense didn't show up.

· West Chester (2000champou) at WNMU (tmelonhead)

I have Tmelonhead is finishing his 4th season at W. New Mexico and has done an excellent job making the 1st round for the last three seasons. Unfortunately, I think his season may end in the 1st round again because his loss to Midwestern this season doesn’t seem like they are ready yet. West Chester is a team that’s been sitting on edge of making a deep run finishing three seasons in the 2nd round. 2000champou has all the game planning ability to push this team past the 2nd round this season and he has a pretty solid team across the board to work with.

Prediction: West Chester 43-13

RESULTS: West Chester Wins 34-3.
Western New Mexico did what they could, but West Chester controlled the game from beginning to end.

EAST BRACKET

1ST ROUND
Predictions: 4-0

· Ferris State (coachoatie) at Nebraska-Omaha (jbob23)

What a season coachoatie has been having with Ferris State. He went 1-1 versus Northern Michigan and has taken full control over an establish program and left his mark. Head coach jbob23 took over a SIM AI program and reached the playoff in his 1st season. Ferris St an elite program and my pick to make it to the final four from this conference.

Prediction: Ferris State 63-7

RESULTS: Ferris State 86-3.

· SVSU (ojpick) at North Alabama (Sim AI)

Ojpick enters the tournament with a very competitive team who lost to Ferris State 41-20 and Northern Michigan 41-20. With the right game plan, he could make it to the final four, but they have to prove they can get past Ferris State in the next round. For now, they have an easy win.

Prediction: SVSU 54-7

RESULTS: Saginaw Valley State 61-16.

· WLSC (Neans90) at Morehouse (sportsdouche)

Great match-up here with two teams having a great season. Neans90 pulled off a great win over Winona St. and won his Conference Championship. Sportsdouche took over a AI Sim team and finished the year 11-2 with a loss to a Saint Joseph’s. They beat Nebraska-Omaha and Winston-Salem State which so this could be a good contest. Neans90 has the established team, Sportsdouche has the game plan experience. What a toss up.

Prediction: WLSC 24-17

RESULTS: West Liberty State 64-17
Where did WLSC come from? Their win ended in a similar score to Saint Joseph's. Neans90 is here to play and ended a very good first year from Sportsdouchie who did a great job in his first season at a rebuild team.

· Saint Joseph`s (tutank) at Missouri-Rolla (olrdneck)

If there is a team in this bracket that has a shot at taking down Ferris State, it is Saint Joseph’s. Their loss to Northern Michigan 55-13 was a larger margin than Ferris State 35-24. This is nice for measuring common opponents on paper, but the actual head to head match-up can easily offer a different result. Tutank has the fire power and the defense to make it to the quarterfinals. Olrdneck enters this game as the underdog, but they have a great RB group and could easily surprise Saint Joseph’s. They only loss to Cheyney 40-21 and if they can get off to an early lead, they could just steal one here.

Prediction: Saint Joseph’s 35-24

RESULTS: Saint Joseph's Wins 32-21.
Olrdneck played a good game and was trailing 19-14 at half. Unfortunately, they gave up 1 more turnover and couldn't slow down Saint Joseph's ground attack. Both teams struggled on 3rd down conversions.

1ST ROUND
Predictions: 3-1

· Northern Michigan (spthibodeau) at Pace (jpnroos)

The Champ is back and if full form with a win over Ferris State in the Conference Championship 35-24. The reports are that he is getting married this weekend so hopefully for all of us, he is doing it in a no-service area! Jpnroos is in his 1st season at Pace and took over a complete rebuild. He played through a really tough schedule and finished 9-5 but still made the playoffs. Congratulations! Now the season comes to a end facing the best team in Division 2.

Prediction: Northern Michigan 63-7
RESULTS: NMU Wins 62-0.
It's a hill for any team to beat this NMU team and Pace doesn't have the talent yet to compete. Great season for jpnroos to play one of the toughest schedules and finish where they did. This was his first season after taking over an all sim squad.

· Virginia State (coral_reefer) at Humboldt State (maldito)

Coral_reefer has been at Virginia State for the 3 seasons and finished in the quarterfinals last season. His team landed in a tough bracket this season and their loss to Ferris State, Fort Lewis and North Carolina Central this season doesn’t look promising for making it past the 2nd Round. They do have an excellent RB that could do some damage but they will need to change some things up tonight. Maldito has been with Humboldt State for 8 seasons and has been recently struggling in the playoffs. They got a break this season after Central Washington beat them 20-13 then CW got suspended from the playoffs due to recruiting violations. Some advice to anyone who is new to the game, avoid giving booster gifts! Does Humboldt State belong to be here? I think so, but they have to prove it tonight.

Prediction: Humboldt State 23-20
RESULTS: Virginia State Wins 41-30.
This one I got run, Coral_reefer put together a great 2nd half to bring it home. Tied 17-17 at the half but Humboldt continued the ground game and went for it on a 3rd & 8 on their opponents 23. This drive ended in a FG and Humboldt could never get anything going.

· NCCU (Fazbear05) at Tarleton State (munchnugget)

This is a really interested match, Munchnugget is doing wonders with his higher powered run offense and Fazbear05 is one of those scary teams that could easily steal a game. NC Central is built really well and has a Top 10 defense. They lost to Tusculum 24-14 and beat Virginia State 39-20 but if they get their offense to perform, look out. Tarleton St is a one trick pony, the run, run and run some more. Your team can either stop it or you will lose.

Prediction: NC Central 35-17
RESULTS: NC Central Wins 35-17
I got one right! Fazbear05 got a taste of what munchnugget is doing with 249 yards on the ground out of trips, but his offense produced big and solid across the board. Almost 500 total yards and nearly 10 more minutes of time of possession led to a very controlled win.

· Texas A&M Commerce (akua29) at S. Connecticut (notAbot)

TAMC had victories over Pace 59-10, Angelo St 56-3 and Tarleton State 38-17. It’s tough to talk about my own team, but we are pretty balanced this season. Good weapons, good defense and have a good shot this season. NotAbot takes over a 3 year developed S. Connecticut team who has reached the playoffs 3 out of 4 seasons. With the talent difference, I have to pick TAMC in this one.

Prediction: TAMC 51-10
RESULTS: TAMC Wins 31-6
Not the most impressive game from my squad, notAbot's defense did a good job slowing down TAMC's attack. TAMC produced almost 400 yards and was nearly even on passing vs rushing. S. Connecticut will look forward to continue building next season.

7/2/2017 12:05 AM (edited)
NORTH 2ND ROUND

· Tusculum (Clememp) at Midwestern State (Linux_Box)

Coming off a big over Shepherd, Linux_Box is on a mission to make a run. Clememp on the other hand has a great squad and his game planning has been great. The struggle versus the last team though was unexpected. Both of these teams played a common opponent in Shepherd and while the game was close, QB Rodriguez (69.24 Core) for MSU is the real deal.

Prediction: This one is a toss up, but Linux_Box has his team performing and with a quarterback like he has, I have to go with my guy.

Midwestern St. 31-24
RESULTS: Midwestern State Wins 40-19
Both teams performed well on offense, but MSU has stronger drives and more explosive plays. The score indicates it was a little closer than it was, with MSU up in 4th quarter at one point 37-13.

· Cheyney (waregl72) at Fort Lewis (justp3ach3y)

Great season for justp3ach3y with Fort Lewis who has had an awesome season. Unfortunately, they meet a division 2 juggernaut in the 2nd round. This is a huge game for Cheyney to squash any doubt and I believe they will.

Predicition: I think both teams will game plan well, but I gotta go with Cheyney 54-24.

RESULTS: Cheyney Wins 41-29.
Where was Fort Lewis in the 1st half? This was two different games where Cheyney won the 1st half 27-3 and Fort Lewis won 26-14 in the 2nd half. Unfortunately, when you combine those, Fort Lewis takes the L. I was expecting Cheyney to win, but justp3ach3y had a heck of year!

SOUTH 2ND ROUND

· Valdosta State (Champ83) at Angelo State (Jawz)

Champ83 has his team well tuned and their defense is going to handle this all passing attack with Angelo State. Jawz really worked the players that he had to use, but Valdosta St. is built from top to bottom.

Prediction: Valdosta State 61-10

RESULTS: Valdosta State Wins 59-38
Wait what? If you took a look at halftime the score said 31-28 Valdosta St. If you looked at the stats, you would of scratched your head and said how? It was pretty ugly but the answer was turnovers and special teams. They had a KR for 98 yards, PR for 73 and a INT. Their offense woke up some in the 2nd half, but it was the defense forcing 6 sacks, 7 throw aways and 1 scramble that did the job. Excellent season for Jawz who had some big holes to work with and really utilized his RB combo.

· Presbyterian (rposborne) at West Chester (2000champou)

No doubt that 2000champou can game plan and he may just be able to do to Presbyterian what Tusculum did earlier in the season. Rposborne usually makes it to the quarterfinals and he made a good effort to keep the ball out of his QB's hand last game. The question is, can he run the ball for the same success against West Chester? He did it versus Winona so I'm going to think it's possible for this match-up.

Prediction: Presbyterian 27-24

RESULTS: West Chester Wins 28-20
It was a close game until the 4th quarter when West Chester pulled away 28-13. West Chester’s offensive performance wasn’t as good as Presbyterian on the ground, but West Chester took advantage of field position from interceptions and fumbles. The young QB for rposborne on the starting drive gave up an INT that led to an easy score. The very next drive they took it away and scored again. Now down 14-0 in the 1st quarter, it was too much for Presbyterian to overcome. In the 3rd quarter it happened again, with a fumble around their own 30 yard line and now the score with 21-6. Great job by West Chester to move on and Presbyterian will look to be more solid next season when his QB’s gets another year under their belt.

EAST 2ND ROUND

· Ferris State (coachoatie) at Saginaw Valley St. (ojpick)

These teams have met before and Ferris State won it 41-21 but was home. On a neutral field it's possible that SVSU could put up a better performance. They have the talent and the experience, but Ferris St. is in a zone this year. All things are pointing to Big Rapids, Michigan.

Prediction: Ferris State 34-23
RESULTS: Ferris State wins 40-30
When I checked the half time scores, a lot of good teams were in very close games. This one was tied up 20-20 at halftime! Both teams put over 500 yards and struggled on 3rd down conversions. Saginaw Valley State controlled the close by more than 8 minutes, but they gave up 3 costly interceptions. Fortunately, only 1 of them was costly, when they throw a pick on their own 10 yard line and Ferris State went up 10-0. The game was tied until 7:42 left in the 4th quarter when Ferris State kicked a 28 yard field goal to move ahead 33-30. Then Ferris State sealed the victory with 3:50 left in the game on a 57 yard pass to John Rios. Huge win for coachoatie and a great season for Ojpick.

· West Liberty St. (Neans90) at Saint Joseph's (Tutank)

Neans90 really snuck up this season with a huge win over Winona St and clinching their conference. They took down a common opponent in Morehouse 64-20 but Saint Joseph's beat the 77-10. Judging by talent and experience, it should be a good game but I gotta go with Saint Joseph in this one.

Prediction: Saint Joseph's 31-14

RESULTS: Saint Joseph wins 29-6
Well the surprise team had to finally come to an end, as West Liberty St. loses to a really good team. I watched the game on Wiscast and it really appeared to be a defensive struggle where Saint Joseph’s did a great job holding excellent field position. They picked off a pass from West Liberty St. inside their own 10 and made it 10-0, then 13-0 and finally 26-3 by the 4th quarter. Neans90 couldn’t get into good field position and Tutank moves on. Saint Joseph’s is a tough team and they will move on. Neans90 had a heck of season and will have another shot next year.

WEST 2ND ROUND

· Northern Michigan (spthibodeau) at Virginia St. (Coral_reefer)

It has been a tough year for Virginia St. coming into the playoffs with 3 losses. One of the common opponents was versus Ferris St. who beat them 51-6. Coral_reefer has had 2 solid years and now a 2nd round match-up against a mostly unwinnable game. Anything can happen, but I'm thinking NMU has their way with them.

Prediction: Nothern Michigan 63-7

RESULTS: Northern Michigan Wins 57-35
Coral_reefer had a solid game plan and the score was 28-27 their lead at the half. I was thinking Virginia St. may have a chance, I mean it’s only 1 more half right? The 2nd half was completely opposite, with crappy drives and monster drives from NMU. I’m not sure what changed, but NMU has some horses and this team is hard to contain for 4 quarters. Coral_reefer did an awesome job and recovered the season to end on a very positive performance. Spthibodeau is just one step closer to gaining another title.

· NC Central (Fazbear05) at Texas A&M Commerce (akua29)

Fazbear05 is a leading a tough defense NC Central team that I originally thought would be scary to meet in the playoffs. It's so awesome that I get them in the 2nd round :) Both teams have had similar performance versus common opponents, but there are a couple games on their schedule where their scoring was held under 21 points. It's will likely be difficult to hold TAMC under 21 points as they haven't scored under 30 pts all season, but this is exactly what they have to do. TAMC enters the game needing to their offense lit up and start moving the chains like they can. If we don't show up tonight, this run is over.

Prediction: TAMC 27-23

RESULTS: TAMC wins 45-31
Last night when I decided to game plan, I kept asking myself why does this team scare me? At half-time when the score was 17-14 I understood why. Fazbear05 can come at you with Trips, ND Box and Pro-set and using all of those formations can be a nightmare when trying to figure out what you want to do. Both teams were playing well, but some luck went my way in the 2nd half and we outscored them 27-17 in the 2nd half. Great season for Fazbear05 and TAMC moves on to try and revenge a beat down from last season versus NMU.

And then there was 8 left...

QUARTERFINALS

Texas A&M Commerce 16-0 (akua29) versus (spithbodeau) 15-1 Northern Michigan

It's a rematch from last seasons NC game, too bad it is in the quarterfinals. NMU comes into the game at their peak and a core rating of 69.1. They had to go through Ferris State, Pace and Virginia State to get here. TAMC comes into this game finishing with an solid 2nd half performance and a core rating of 66.8. To get here, they had to beat Tarleton State, Southern Connecticut and North Carolina Central.

Common Opponents: Pace
TAMC 59-10W
NMU 62-0W

The two teams are very similar but NMU has almost no weakness in their build with TOP 10 team players across the board and the best OL and 1-2 DB Duo in Division 2. TAMC has some weapons and a solid defense but a lot of youth on the offensive and defensive lines. NMU has struggled some games up to half time, but their second half performance has always been dominant.
TAMC is going to need some big plays and turnovers to stay in the game for 4 quarters in this one.

Predicition: NMU 45-27
RESULTS: TAMC Wins 40-29
The score was 24-17 at the half and TAMC was making it's way in the air, NMU was gashing them on the ground. This was a time of possession and penalty type of game where TAMC kept the ball for 38 Mins vs 21 Mins for NMU. NMU also had 5 penalties for 45 yards and it started to lead to 5/14 3rd down conversion which created more yards needed for 1st downs. It was more bad game engine luck than anything and hat's off to spithbodeau for another great season and getting married this weekend which I'm sure played a big role in their performance.

Cheyney 16-0 (waregl72) versus (Linux_Box) 15-1 Midwestern St.

Waregl72 took over Cheyney this season and is doing a great job as they make it to the quarterfinals. There is no history between the two coaches in this world, but Linux_Box has had to right the ship after taking a loss earlier this year to Fort Lewis. Cheyney enters this meeting with a core rating of 67.2 and had to beat Ouachita Baptist and Fort Lewis to get here. Midwestern St. enters this game with a core rating of 64.0 and beat Sheperd and Tusculum to reach the quarterfinals.

Common Opponents: Fort Lewis
Cheyney 41-29
MSU 45-20

Cheyney will feature the #1 WR is Division 2 and one of the best secondaries. This doesn't bold as well for Midwestern St who likes to target their WR's as a part of their main offense. Cheyney does have a slight tear in their armor, with their lack of formation IQ at LB after you get past the starters in their Nickel package. Midwestern has good formation IQ throughout and has the best QB in Division 2.

Predicition: Cheyney 45-31
RESULTS: Cheyney Wins 35-3
Wow, this offense is high powered for Ferris State. MSU is a solid team and I really thought it would be a closer game. I don't think Linux_Box could find an answer for this I-Formation attack that was nearly 50% on 3rd down conversions. 8.2 yards per pass and 3.9 ypc with 42 rush attempts leads to solid performance. MSU did get some production on the ground but it looks like there was a lot of pressure on the QB with 2 sacks, 3 throw aways and 3 scrambles. Great season Linux_Box and we will see Cheyney move to the next level versus a tough defensive Valdosta St
.

West Chester 16-0 (2000Champou) versus (Champ83) 16-0 Valdosta St.

2000Champou turned in on this year and it's a big step in improving his team by winning 16 games and a quality win over Presbyterian to advance. Champ83 has been in here many times and his team has been solid all season. West Chester enters the game with a core rating of 64.0 and had to beat Western New Mexico and Presbyterian. Valdosta St. will show with a core rating of 64.5 and took down Ouachita Baptist, Mesa State and Angelo State.

Common Opponents: None

There is no coaching records with these teams, but Valdosta St does trail West Chester 2-6 in this history of this series. West Chester's team doesn't have the Top ten athletes but what they do offer is a solid unit across the board. If I had to pick a weakness it would be beyond their starting 4 DB's due to youth. Valdosta St. has a Top 5 QB, RB and a solid LB core to help defend the pass and run.

Predicition: Valdosta St. 38-24
RESULTS: Valdosta St. Wins 37-17
West Chester was not able to get off to a good jump and trailed 28-14 at the half. Valdosta is really a mystery team this year because they win games like this more often because of a few explosive plays and that lead to fast scores. However, over the last 3 games they have went 10/42 on 3rd (23.8%) and they pulled one out over Angelo State who had to deal with 12 penalties for 159 yards and they still gave up almost 600 yards. The question is, what will happen when they face a more explosive team who is able to slow down these big plays. We will see next round versus Cheyney. Great season for West Chester, it is really what they needed for the future. 2000Champou can build off this year and we will see them again.

Saint Joseph's (15-1) tutank versus coachoatie (15-1) Ferris State

Tutank's defense has been consistent all season and while their offense has not been scoring as many points, the defense is not allowing many points. Coachoatie caught everyone off guard when he took down NMU earlier this season. Ferris State's offense has been making the difference and this contest will come down to Saint Joseph's slowing it down.

Common Opponents: Northern Michigan
Saint Joseph's 55-13L
Ferris State 30-27W, 35-24L

Saint Joseph's is going to bring a dominant defensive line and excellent offensive line. What they lack is potential play makers on offense, they make up with a great linebacker core and secondary. Ferris State will bolster the #2 Quarterback and a Top Ten RB and WR use as weapons. Their OL is solid and their defense is just as strong.

Prediction: Ferris State 38-27
RESULTS: Ferris State Wins 65-17
Can anyone left stop this offense?? 700 Yards by coachoatie that continues to remove doubt in his skills to scheme and game plan. They put 31 pts in the first half and followed up with 34 pts in the second half. Saint Joseph's wasn't able to get their offense going and their defense was no match for this high powered passing attack that put up 500+ yards in the air with only 1 scramble and no other pressure. FSU had the ball for 40 minutes and will look to take on TAMC for their chance to represent the GLIAC in the NC.

Great season for everyone who finished their season.

THE FINAL FOUR

At this stage, we know everything about each team. All of these teams have very few weaknesses and everyone deserves to be here.
Congrats to the coaches that are left!

Texas A&M Commerce 17-0 (akua29) versus (coachoatie) 16-1 Ferris State
Both teams enter this game coming off solid wins to advance to the semi-finals. Coachoatie makes it in his 2nd season after taking over and akua29 returns after losing the NC game last season. Both teams are very similar and should be a great game.

Ferris State Wins 62-27

Valdosta St 17-0 (champ83) versus (waregl72) 17-0 Cheyney
Champ83 is no stranger to the big stage and makes it back after a 2nd round loss last season. Waregl72 is in his 1st season at Cheyney and has had a impressive run through the playoffs.

Cheyney Wins 41-34

Good game Waregl72!!
You too buddy. You had too much firepower on offense. Surprised I kept it to 2 touchdowns difference.

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
#7 Cheyney (18-0)
Waregl72
vs
Ferris State (17-1) #1

Coachoatie

Incredible run by both teams this season under new leadership. Cheyney struck first on a 9 play 48 yard drive that finished with a 5 yard pass to WR Edwin O'Dell. The following Kickoff, Mitchell Baldwin took it the house for 95 Yards. Cheyney was not going to be denied, they answered back with their own 81 yard kickoff return for a TD. Both teams struggled to gain control until Ferris State orchestrated a 8 Play 46 yard drive ending on a 18 yard pass to Warren Keys for a TD. Tied 14-14, Cheyney fumbled on a 3rd and 10 but recovered and it led to a punt. FSU RB Mitchell Baldwin was the answer, with a 53 yard run down the middle and a 35 yard sweep that led to 20-14 lead. At the half, it was 28-17 Ferris State and head coachoatie just had to hold 2 more quarters. With 13:11 left in the 3rd quarter, FSU QB Manuel Samuels struck pay dirt with a 47 yard pass to WR Warren Keys to go up 35-17. Cheyney continued to score but never could make up the difference.

Ferris State wins 45-31

PLAYOFF SEMIFINALS
#2 Valdosta State (17-0) vs Cheyney (17-0) #7
Cheyney wins 41-34
Tied up 14-14 in the first quarter, Cheyney managed to win the tug-a-war with a key 10 play 77 yard drive that took 3:52 off the clock. VSU had no answer and found themselves trailing 24-14. Previously, Valdosta State's defense had kept them in the game but this time it was not VSU . Both VSU outscored Cheyney 20-17 in the 2nd half but lost 41-34 due to the 1st half performance.

MVP RB Jason Mercado (CPU)
Rushing: 27-105-3
Receptions: 5-38-0

#3 Ferris State (16-1) vs TAMC(17-0) #1
Ferris State wins 62-27
The first half went pretty even, with both teams alternating scores. However, the first quarter played a big role in the tempo of the game going forward. TAMC had a very solid opening drive for 9 plays 66 yards that led to a 7-0 lead. FSU answered back with RB Mitchell Baldwin taking 88 yards on the following kickoff return to make it 7-7. Then, FSU made an excellent defensive stand with a LB blitz that put great pressure on QB Allen and led to a 7 yard sack. After the punt, both teams continued to trade scores but the first half ended 24-17 FSU. The second half, TAMC found themselves in long situations, threw an interception and never found their tempo. FSU ran the table 38-10 and moved on to the NC.

MVP WR Warren Keys (FSU)
Receptions: 15-219-2
