60 DL BUG question Topic

I have a first year player.. drafted this season playing LOW A ball. 4 gms left in season and he just got a minor 5 day injury with no hit to ratings. Is it worth throwing on the 60 DL .. i have 20 med and training. Does the bug work in off season? Strained forearm.. pitcher...

It does not work in off-season (training only).

Strained forearm is one of the best for medical, but there is only time for one recovery cycle (or zero.) So you would have to compare the benefit (and risk) of going DL vs the benefit he would get thru promotion boost (and also whether that LowA team is on track to make the playoffs.

I get creative sometimes and if it were me I would actually Promote to HiA and THEN add to DL to see if the programming would maybe let me get both boosts (1-Promotion and then 2-Injury Recovery). That would be rad

Thanks man. Funny enough my los A squad is on the pmayoffs and no other higher levels are. I actuallt just demotef two retiring vets down to that level as they have ZERO use to me otherwise. So the low A squad may be playing a while longer..

Yeah, tough call whether to promote now and gamble whether you're going to get a Promotion interval, or whether to just leave him off the DL and go thru the LowA playoffs and promote afterwards and definitely get the Promotion interval

Are promotions better at end of season or at the stsrt of next?

End of season will get you an extra bump. Beginning of season will not.

It's so that for a player like Player Profile: Cole Palmer, at the end of the season he will either have 4 or 5 intervals that say "Regular Season", and you want to make sure you get that final interval to "close out" his coaching development. So if you promote after the minor league playoffs are over you will get a player card that looks like this:

-If I do the boost at the end, the player carries over the 64 OVR (post-promotion) into rollover & training. These boosts are exaggerated for DITR, especially those from your current season who have just gotten it.
-If I do not do the boost at the end, the player carries over the 63 OVR (sans promotion) into rollover & training. The extra unclaimed points from the previous season are not simply "remainders" that are tacked onto Spring Training, the remainders get rounded down and the end-of-season/playoff coaching development points is lost forever.

Multiply this effect over the first 3-5 years of development and it literally makes the difference of 3-5 OVR across the lifetime development which ends up being the difference between career minor league and 3-5 seasons of minimum salary replacement level talent (and therefore fewer roster spots that you need to spend your payroll budget on), the diff between backups and starters, the difference between starters and type B/A, the difference between good players and stars. Promote at the end.

^^^ so anyways that's kinda why I might test this on your guy, to see if I could "close out coaching development" and then ALSO get an Injury Recovery to carry over :P Might not work that way though? If you try it let us see what happens

Thanks for the info. I was hesitant to put him on the DL in that I thought I would miss some off season development which - based on the posts here = turns out doesn't exist. I got busy at work and ultimately I just let the guy heal without the DL. We ended up losing the round in the playoffs. fail fail. but with better understanding - I will be experimenting in future seasons. gratzi !

I feel like the end of the season promotion bump only works for players with less than 5 regular season bumps. If there are 4 or less, I see the bump, if the player already has 5 regular season bumps, I do not think I have ever seen a player receive the promotion bump - granted I've only played like 3/4 seasons.

I think this is where making the minor league playoffs comes into play with the extra playing time. Pretty much all of my minor leaguers that get 5 Regular Season cycles also get the ratings bump from the Promotional bump after the playoffs because I do everything I can to make sure all my minor league teams make the playoffs. And since they all have plenty of AB's/Games between the 5th Reg Season cycle and the Promotion bump they see a ratings boost

Does the injury bug work if there's no ratings hit?

Yep that's exactly what you want out of the minor league playoffs :)

You can even promote twice! so let's say your lowA team misses the playoffs, so you promote and get an interval. And then your highA team wins its world series, you promote to AA and you can get a second "Promotion"
