Our manager (big dude in green shirt) was a hard-***. Former Marine. Oriole farm-hand, he had me throwing a curve at 12, covered my bone-chipped elbow with HEET and Atomic jelly.

My good friend, Tommy in the back row next to the coach in the red shirt ended up being a NY City Fireman, got out of the WTC just in time on 9/11

My father made good money(Allstate Exec.) but he always cheaped out(grew up during the depression) hence the $3.00 red cleats. That Rawlings glove I had was paid for by me( mowing lawns, clamming, etc.)
