Here's a question. Topic

What do you think is the best five man line-up to play in WIS basketball? Please note, this is the best line-up for here, not for real life basketball. If you want, name your best WIS team and your best starting five for real players. Don't worry about choosing a bench, just the best five players. If you choose to answer this question, name your players and their best season. No clones.
Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.

4 of the 5 starters would probably be Curry, LeBron, Rodman, Wilt.

Assuming no cap or a high cap:

15-16 Curry
12-13 Lebron
91-92 Rodman
14-15 Deandre
66-67 Wilt

Though if you're talking WIS, you can't exclude clones, so realistically it looks like:

15-16 Curry
12-13 Lebron
91-92 Rodman
94-95 Rodman with 95-96 & 92-93 Rodman backups
66-67 Wilt

You might be better off doing
94-95 Stockton
12-13 Lebron
91-92 Rodman
96-97 Mailman
66-67 Wilt

but I doubt it. 15-16 Curry is the best offensive season in the sim, and it's not even close.

My IRL 5 would have been Magic, Jordan, Bird, Lebron & Kareem. That would be average at best in the sim. You're much better off taking low-usage, role playing specialists to fit around high-usage, high-efg% players, of which there are only a few (and the reason that you see Curry, Lebron, Shaq & a few other players dominating OLs surrounded by a bunch of Worms).

IRL (maybe not the best at each position but this would be the best team imo)
PG- Jason Kidd 09-10
SG- Michael Jordan 89-90
SF- Larry Bird 85-86
PF- Tim Duncan 02-03
C- Bill Russell 61-62
In the Sim? I agree with Ash except I'd have Lebron @ Point because of the rebounding advantage
But to add my own category what would be a starting five of my favorite players it would be.(I'll a little loose with positions here lol)
PG- Steve Francis 00-01
SG- Vince Carter 00-01
SF- Shawn Marion 10-11
PF- Dirk Nowitzki- 06-07
C- Ben Wallace- 01-02

I wanted to put Elgin Baylor on my favorite list, but I've never seen him actually play so it didn't feel right.

I agree completely with ash's starting five. And, in head-to-head matchup with all other pieces being equal, I'd be interested to see how often I could win by substituting 89-90 Jordan for Curry and 15-16 Draymond for Rodman.

Also some love for 13/14 Lebron, which never gets mentioned because it's slightly worse than 12/13. But s great season. Not sure I'd use it over Curry but a nice 3rd guard for the all-time WIS team. And maybe just maybe the slight defense and rebounding edge comes in handy over Curry and he deserves to start.

I love that season of Curry but not sure its the definitive best at PG. High usage% + super high efg%. But I find due to low rate of FT's that other players (namely Lebron) generate the same points/fga. In the end, points/fga is what matters right? I know that foul frequency tends to be less than IRL but the rates do happen somewhat proportionately. Combine that with Lebron's efg% is not far behind, and his high DEF, reb& and lower TO...I think Lebron is preferable although Curry is just damn fun to play. I just don't like his 68 def and 4.7 TO/48

Also, honestly I hate the "state farm" ast% strategy since everyone started running it. It was super fun at first but then I felt like it was running over every league at a high rate. Someone runs it in almost every open league or theme league where the players aren't restricted.

But hard to argue the Stockton/Stockton/Magic/Lebron/Wilt or slight variation of that lineup isn't the best 5.

I pretty much disagree with almost everything you said in the previous two posts for reasons I'm not going to take time to discuss currently. You do you, though.

I put this team into a 55M league that allows only 1 player to have more than 10 rebs/gm and 1 player over 8 ast/gm (I didn't even draft one). They are off to a pretty good start, but I can't see some of these shooting percentages continuing...
