"This draft is HARD. Boxscores are OK if you can twist the players, but when they need to be used in that season... That being said, this was super fun."

Indeed. Pitching is at a premium when you can't twist your pitchers, so many teams will be lacking studs ... but that can still be competitive in a $70m league. That's also why I've liberalized the use of 200k players / AAA replacements to anyone who shows up in the box scores or rosters. Granted, average AAA pitching doesn't get you a lot of quality INNINGS -- maybe 50 or 60 per player -- but they will be a big help here.
Oh GRRR. I think I may have missed that rule. So if someone shows up in a box score but doesn't have an eligible SIM season that year, you can use a 200k replacement/AAA call-up? This may mean back to the drawing board...

Yes, that's right. The scrubs shall lead you. You can have as many as 6 AAA players and 4 AAA pitchers as replacements, but ONLY to the extent that you have non-sim players on your 25-man roster to send down. Sometimes the box scores give them to you, sometimes not.

All right, deleting my posted roster and playing with it some more. Thanks.

Do the AAA players replacing non-sim seasons from boxscores also need to match position/handedness? Or does that matching only apply to the Negro Leaguer? e.g. if I have a RH RP in the boxscore who doesn't have a SIM season, can I pick a LH RP from AAA?

They should all match. If your non-sim player was a LH RP, that's what your AAA replacement should be. [The 200k player doesn't matter, since he will be sent down on Opening Day and not used.]

Likewise, your AAA replacement should not play any positions that your non-sim player didn't play. If your man played all the middle infield positions, you can select a replacement who did; but if he only played 2B, then you should limit your choices to those who only played 2B. You can play him out of position if you want, but you shouldn't draft a guy with extra positions.

A team with Walter Johnson and Pedro Martinez probably isn't going to suck too bad, dlchow. My club has Jurickson Profar platooning at 2B.

I need to go re-work my roster then. I was going on the assumption that I had to find players with real seasons...

I think it's worth the effort to look for players WITHOUT real seasons (in your boxscores). But what a pain in the *** that was.

daddyzander: Welcome aboard! Here are your 12 random pages:

1. P Jair Jurrjens 2007-14
2. 1979 Cleveland Indians Trades & Transactions [any two players listed on the page, in their 1979 season, whether they played for the Indians or were traded away ... so, conceivably, you could use two players traded for each other. But no non-sim players here!]
3. Cincinnati Reds @ New York Giants 9/17/1942
4. P Joe Sullivan 1935-41

5. OF Roy Foster 1970-72
6. 1972 Cleveland Indians Roster

12. P Bill Tremel 1954-56

Only two box scores in that one? Crazy!

I found one. (One!)

Now I have to figure out how to reconfigure my team without Carl Hubbell or Mel Ott.

There's a whole lotta fugly here...

1. Washington Senators Team History & Encyclopedia [this is the 1891-99 Senators - the default rule is that you may choose any player who shows up on that page, which in this case is limited to the top player by WAR in each season, and the All-Time Top 12 Players pictured, in any season with the franchise]
>>> 1896 Kip Selbach and 1898 Duke Farrell

3. New York Yankees @ Chicago White Sox, 5/29/2002

>>> 2002 Tankersley and Ryan Klesko
6. Milwaukee Brewers @ Minnesota Twins, 7/12/1972

2 boxes, 0 non sim players, but hey, I have 20mil of Ed Walsh available for 28.5% of my roster
7/23/2017 12:43 PM
I had 1927 Ruth and Gehrig available (combined cost: just under $36M), so I feel your pain.
7/23/2017 8:24 PM
I'll take a team, tdoak (with LHP Andy Cooper as my Negro League star).
