The top recruit West of the Mississippi in Wooden is #17. Anyone ever seen that before?

Have noticed recruit generation is totally unpredictable now. Must be totally random or close too it.

Where the recruits go is not random, there's a formula for it based on proximity of schools in each division.

The quality of recruits in each location is more or less random.

This complaint props up time to time but it's rarely as bad as the OP noted.

One year I remember like the 5 of the top 8 recruits being in TX but I am kinda making those #'s up, it was something like that.

Since overall ranking doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot, it really isn't a big deal.

Wooden also has 3 Five star and 2 Four star MI recruits. Pretty good if you are UM or MSU, not so helpful if you are a DIII IN school. I'm OK with some randomness as it mirrors real life as long as it's not too outlandish.

I haven't kept evidence of this, but often neglect of the west in recruit distribution seems apparent.

NYC is lighter than it should be as well. There are like 50 D1 schools within 50 miles of NYC and there is never 15% of the top 100 recruits there.

Maybe it's not as bad as I think, there are really closer to 30.

Would you mind tallying up how many total DI recruits there are? Having that info across various worlds could help me figure out if my theory that the high number of walk-ons has resulted in fewer total recruits being generated is valid or not.

But stop me if you heard this one - Recruit Generation has been arguably THE biggest problem with HD for many years.

Enough recruits are generated every season to more than fill the number of openings. The users define which ones are D1, D2 and D3 by recruiting them. There are plenty to go around. If you simply want to complain about something, there are plenty of real things to complain about.

100% agree. In my view, had they fixed recruit gen at the outset, the 3.0 rollout would not have even been necessary.

Yeah I have no clue why it wasn't just included with everything else they were doing with 3.0. I heard that they weren't sure how to change the code or something like that??

And despite what has been said, something did change in respect to number of recruits generated at each level. During beta I compared the recruit populations to what we currently had in the 2.0 worlds and it was significantly different. I posted the results on the beta boards but those are long gone now.

What would you like to see different about recruit generation? Just curious...
