Recruiting Ineligibles Topic

I was planning on going after a couple of ineligibles, but would want them to stay ineligible for the purpose of getting the right class size. Does HS GPA have an impact on whether or not they pass? Is a HS GPA of 2.3 more likely to become eligible than a 2.1?

Way more. Nearly any ineligible higher than 2.5 will become eligible. 2.3 is about 30% I'd say.

I had a vet answer my sitemail saying that there was no difference and there is no direct link between an ineligible become eligible and HS GPA. Are you sure on this cub?

I'be had about 3layers become elible before the season in my career. It's incredibly infrequent regardless of gpa.

Zero correlation between GPA and whether or not they become eligible before the season starts.

From the beginning of the season until the second recruiting cycle ends, a recruit with a higher gpa definitely has a better chance of becoming eligible. From the few hundred I've tracked, a 2.6+ guy becomes eligible with more than 3 times the frequency of that of a 2.2-2.3 guy.

Now if you're talking only about becoming eligible between being signed and the season end, I really haven't spent much time looking at them. I've only had one guy do that and he was 2.6

looking at the past Allen recruiting session.
I scouted 49 recruits that began as ineligible. Overall, 24 became eligible halfway through the NT tourney.
2.0: 0/4 have since qualified
2.1: 2/5
2.2: 1/6
2.3: 1/6
2.4: 3/6
2.5: 4/8
2.6: 4/4
2.7: 5/5
2.8: 2/2
2.9: 2/2

I'm 100%. I did a study in beta. I don't think many people agreed with me until they saw those posts above but I'm sure.

This is high quality stuff, ie something I didn't know.

It makes sense now that recruiting is split up that guys are becoming eligible while or between recruiting. I'll have to pay more attention to that.

before 2.0, it was rare - becuase no recruiting was going on during the season. Now, phase one is underway while the season goes on. So guys who might have qualified during that period may now qualify while they are actively recruited. I think that is a big part of what changed.

This is a tremendously useful thread. I had no idea HS GPA had an effect on whether an ineligible would later become eligible -- thanks OW and cub. As an aside, I just had a 2.5 and 2.6 go eligible in Knight.

Well done cubcub and OW-I wonder if this is a 3.0 glitch or some unintended consequence related to the recruiting engine re-write.
