How good is this D3 RB? Topic

https://www.whatifsports.com/gd/PlayerProfile/Ratings.aspx?pid=11310978

I haven't paid much attention to my D3 team in Hayes but I just noticed I have a monster of an RB there.

I did a quick look at the ratings of the RBs that have the D3 rushing records in Hayes and this guy has better ratings. I'm not sure if I have seen a better D3 RB.

He was a Jr* this season and improved 57 points. If he does that again his Sr* season he will be pushing is OVR rating close to 800. Not bad for D3.

According to GUESS there was one better RB in D3 at the start of the season - but I think I'd choose my guy over him:

I'm tempted to stay at D3 next season to just see if I can get him 6,000+ yards rushing and an 800 OVR rating.....

Is this guy a unicorn?

That guy is really good. Which is to say, he'd have a reasonable shot at providing RB depth on any of nelsonba25 or slid64er's juggernaut D-III teams back in the days of GD 1.0.

I wish he would transfer to Menlo.....lol...

What is a good rating for a D2 RB?

This guy has a 70 rating as a RB according to GD. His STR and TEC would probably hold him back at D2?

His 81 SPD and 77 ELU should improve by next playoffs to 84-85 SPD and 80-81 ELU. He could be able to get his STR over 70 and his stamina over 80. That high of stamina could get him over 55 carries a game. Give him 55 carries a game x 18 games and that would be 990 carries. He averaged 6.9 per carry this season. If he averaged 7.0 that would be 6,930 yards.

I think trying to get that guy 1,000 carries and 7,000 rushing yards could provide a bit of entertainment if I stayed at D3.

The two best D-II RBs I've ever had were as follows:

ATH - 69 / 50
SPD - 90 / 93
D - 82 / 70
WE - 67 / 71
ST - 69 / 73
STR - 83 / 85
BLK - 53 / 54
TKL - 12 / 1
H - 60 / 54
GI - 71 / 63
ELU - 92 / 90
TEC - 68 / 84
OVERALL - 816 / 788

Not sure what those equate to in GUESS ratings, since I use my own. I suspect you might find evidence of a few better D-II RBs, but those guys would be up there near the top.

Most really good D-II RBs are somewhere along the lines of 80/75/80 (SPD/STR/ELU).

I never realized D3 and D2 players could get that high. I've never really paid close attention because I move up to D1A as soon as I can.

Your 90 SPD 90 ELU with 85 STR would probably start on my Dobie UConn rebuild....lol

It's certainly not common, but it can happen given the right circumstances. Usually all of the following must come together:

High starting point for key attributes
High WE
High potential
Redshirt
Play 18/19 games per season plus 3 Exhibitions
Lots of playing time

He's a great D3 back. I'd take him any day and run the heck out of him. However, I like high strength better, but that's probably just me.
Is he a STL or just GOOD potential?

My best DIII backs would be one of: (that I have records for):
first was a RS, second NO RS
ATH - 71 / 64
SPD - 67 / 67
D - 68 / 76
WE - 84 / 76
ST - 76 / 71
STR - 84 / 83
BLK - 42 / 39
TKL - 1 / 1
H - 56 / 56
GI - 62 / 67
ELU - 80 / 78
TEC - 50 / 49
OVERALL - 741 / 705

I didn't recruit my guy but I am assuming he is STL. He has improved +59 his Jr* season so that is probably STL?

I like high strength also. I am curious if he can get another +4 to 6 STR his Sr* season while he is getting the ball every play.

Trying to see if I can get in the yardage record books with him in Yost...I was really close last season but wasn't aware of it until after. He is a STL recruit.
