But you can get on base and put yourself into scoring position and increase your OBP which is also an important stat.

You can't score runs without getting on base...

You can avoid hitting into "disastrous" double plays by keeping it there, though.

I did
For real. I got laid plenty of times by just being a bench player on the college team. Girls don't give a **** what you actually do on the field.

Yankees Joe DiMaggio had 360 homers to 358 strikeouts in his first 1,710 games and one homer to nine strikeouts in his final 26 career games. That close to being the only player in history with more homers than strikeouts. And don't forget he lost 1943-45, serving during WWII.
