Not even 1 team in any of the 6 leagues in which I am playing is off to a 4-0 start.
There are 5 in mine: 3 in the $90M and 2 in the Variable
All improve to 5-0.

As of the pm games today, there are 15 undefeated teams left out of the 576 in the tournament. fatboydad54 and jmissirlis are the only people with more than one.

There are also 15 winless teams. No one has multiple.

All six of my teams had at least one loss after three games played. The good news is all six teams were exactly 2-1 after three games.

You jinxed me! Both lost the next game.

I need to go back and see if this holds up in other leagues, but the DH leagues so far seem to need way more IP than the non-DH leagues.

In the 4 non-DH leagues I'm in, teams are averaging about 132 pitches per game (plus or minus 1).

In the 2 DH leagues I'm in, teams are averaging 140 pitchers per game (90M) and 142 pitches per game (140M).

You need 10-11 IP/162 for each pitch per game, so that suggests DH leagues need something like 80-100 extra IP. I had always assumed they needed like 30-50.

This isn't because the DH leagues have lots more PAs. They have about 1-1.5 extra PA per game, which is what you'd expect replacing a pitcher with a DH. But that only accounts for half the difference in pitches per game. The other half, at least so far, comes from the DHs apparently drawing more pitches in their outs than pitchers do.

Owners tend to draft a lot of IP in high cap leagues; usually too many in my view. But they don't do that in low cap leagues. And I suspect we will see some serious fatigue problems hit the 90M league as the DAMP gets withdrawn over the next few days.

... and I immediately go check to see how many innings my two DH teams have....

90M - 1464 in Skydome
140M - 1532 in Polo Grounds

.... whew

It's interesting since you'd think, despite not walking very often, pitchers would still need 3.x pitches in most cases due to striking out a bunch (in theory). Maybe that is not the case.

In the mother of all "other than that how was the play Mrs. Lincoln" scenarios, my teams are playing .575 ball (23-17), except for my team that's 0-8.

I feel like I'm getting karmic payback from starting like 14-0 or something with one of my teams in the second round of last year's tourney. I mean, I expected my team that's 0-8 to be bad...but not this bad.

Stupid 140M caps, everybody has pretty much the same team. Seems mostly bad luck, were 0-3 in 1-run games with +8 run differential leading to 3-5 start...Lost 1 game on an error. Cla Meredith has 0 IP, 0-1, BSV and was responsible for another loss. Hopefully shifting him out of Closer B will turn things around.

Yes, I don't understand this. I don't think it applies in real life baseball, because of what you say about the Ks.

It might be a small sample size effect that will wash out soon. I'll keep an eye on it.

my $140m doubles team has started 1-7 and has managed a grand total of 15 double in those 8 games. Not the start I had wanted (he said obviously).
Earl Webb is my DH. Knowing about 1931 normalization, I still thought he might be able to cobble together a productive season at a pretty low cap number. How wrong can a person be? So far he has managed to strike out 13 times in 36 at bats without walking once. He's hitting .194 . The only glimmer of hope is that 4 of his 7 hits have been doubles.

In our $140M league only 4 teams have 20 or more doubles thru 8 games. (22 is tops)...only 4 teams have given up 10 or more HR's. League ERA is 4.56

Love ya, Sparky...with 1 out in the 8th, Mister Manager trots out my mop in a tie game. He proceeds to give up 14 in an inning and 2/3...*******.

I did use 5 relievers, but after throwing 11 pitches in the previous game, Nehf should have been available. ..or perhaps not.
