Thanks- I knew I was near the lead, if not first overall in standings deviation. Sometimes, I feel it would be better to just be around 93-94 wins each 162-game period, instead of 106, 89, 78, 105.

I took the table ozomatli posted and cleaned it up a bit and added some more information. The standard deviation is greatly impacted by the mean. For example, both fooolishfool and paulives have standard deviations = 0.82, but fooolishfool's mean is larger. Using a new term, the "coefficient of variation" is equal to St.Dev / Mean. In words, the coefficient of variation, also known as relative standard deviation (RSD), is a standardized measure of dispersion of a probability distribution or frequency distribution. My high standard deviation is offset a bit since my mean is so high. The following table is sorted by Coefficient of Variation.

I also added a column at the end, called "Spread" which is the highest win total in any 162-game period minus the lowest win total. fooolishfool's spread of 2 is really quite extraordinary.

Also of note. Nobody has improved their win total in each of the 162-game periods. But sford was the only person to never have a lower win total than a previous 162-game period.

dodgebob is the only person with the unfortunate result of seeing a lower win total each 162-game period...

I find it amazing that barracuda has 4 periods over 90 and still has a spread of 24. Definitely overcame that slow start.
