I think that's true of literally every hitter who has ever played. Sometimes they swing in need to swing situations. Sometimes they take the walk.

Which is why mike is so stupid for using it as a mark against EM.

If EM played for Boston, NY or LA no one would question his walk rate IMO. Playing for Seattle didn't help him.
