If a previous owner couldn't make Westbrook work with both Rodman and Dwight Howard a few seasons back that is all of the info that I need to stay away frm drafting him.
That wasn't 16-17 Westbrook though.
How'd you know about that?

I had 15-16 Westbrook, Rodman and Dwight. I guess I can't expect dh's team to be any better that one. CJ is using 16-17 Westbrook with LeBron and great rebounders, and that isn't going that well.

i wasnt really sure where i wanted to go with this team....i took rodman because i was tired of using the usual guys in the 8-14 range(should probably have picked closer to 24)...mchale was the obvious choice and probably the best one..but i have him and another guy i was considering on my tepl team and wanted to go with someone else...all the other choices seemed boring to me(thatll happen after 50+ combined 52/odl drafts) so i decided to experiment

16-17 westbrook is an epic stats season and regardless of my w-l it should be a very enjoyable year....of course im going to try to win but as you guys pointed out, he just might be too inefficient to be on a contender

tarheel and milest are right tho...waiting until the 3rd was the smart move..kinda blew that

16-17 Westbrook makes me miss the EFG Rejects league that used to be around. Gave players like Baylor, Iverson, and now Westbrooke a court to succeed on.

Ha - I don't know about that team, I just know that this is the first DH52 season that 16-17 Westbrook has been available ;)

I thought Westbrook would last until my pick in the 3rd, tbh... That's not a knock on DH or anyone else who had him ranked higher, i certainly can be the one mis-ranking him... But in wanted to trade down to take 2 of 4 guys- Gobert, D Jordan, B Wallace, or Whiteside- not gonna say my particular rankings for those 4, but any be would do.. Then in was going to take Westbrook in the 3rd - & obviously had an obvious backup plan or 2... But when I couldn't trsfe down, I figured neither of those 4 would fall to me in the 2nd & abandoned ship... Although, it almost could have happened as Whiteside was snagged before me.... Debated on not posting this bc in hate giving up information to opponents, but I also like good conversation. Lol.. And yes- Chandler was the obvious 3rd round pick - and considered him in my 'Westbrook plan'

I took him in the third round but Rajon Rondo often falls pretty low on the draft board. Why is this?? I know he cant shoot FT well for a PG and doesn't shoot threes, but he has Assist numbers in the 30s, has 50 EFG%, has a 80-90 def rating, and has good OREB% for the PG position. I am just curious as to why? I mean Steve Nash went in the first and I would take Rondo (in the sim) over him 9 times out of 10.

That's what I'm working with right now. My main regret at the moment: taking Grant over Nance. I mainly chose Grant because I thought I needed the oreb% to cover for Garnett and Towns being merely OK there, but now with Drexler on board I really didn't need it. And at this point I would much prefer to have Nance's 100 DEF and blocks.

Some of my favorite clusters so far:
  • Shaq, Donyell, Porter (classic sim trio)
  • Mailman, Paul (should be easy enough to fill in the cracks from here)
  • Robinson, Erving, Nance (yeah, no one to pass the ball or space the floor yet, but who's going to score on them?)
  • Durant, Whiteside, Walton (just need someone to distribute)
  • Barkley, Penny, Mutombo (lots of flexibility from here)

I don't understand why you draft 02-03 Garnett and not play him at SF

I am playing him at SF. I usually prefer 05-06 Garnett but realized that wasn't going to work so great with Towns; I need the 90 DEF and defensive flexibility of 02-03.

I think your point was mainly why take 02-03 Garnett then **** away some of the rebounding advantage by taking Grant. I considered Kemp with my 3rd round pick (can you imagine a Kemp/Garnett/Towns frontcourt in real life?) but decided he didn't fit what I was looking to do as well.

Tarheel commented "I thought I needed the oreb% to cover for Garnett and Towns being merely OK there" - is there an oreb% that you generally look for?

I ask because I'm contemplating drafting a "bullpen" of low salary/ low min centers with high (above 10) oreb% -

A bit like LTB's Pros/Joes League

I was thinking about that the other day! Been a long time since we ran that league. (And to be fair, it was benjihall who first came up with the concept long ago.)
