Is it possible that helmets have made concussions more frequent and more severe in Football and Hockey?

i think that has been part of the discussion...ill never forget the hit that lindros took in the open ice years ago.....hits like that should be illegal.....i think the rules protecting the qb are good.....players today are so superior both strength and weight and speed...they can be lethal now.
