Upset of the Week: Michigan over Penn State
10/18/2017 6:41 PM
I don't think Michigans' inept offense is going to be able to keep them in the game with Penn State. The only way the Wolverines pull the upset is by keeping the game in the teens. I'm leaning 21-10 PSU.

Colorado over Wazzu State is my upset of the week. I also expect Navy to beat UCF (if you call that an upset?)

Not if USC, PSU, Clemson and TCU have 1 loss AND win their conference. No Power 5 will be left out with the same record as team that didn't win their conference.
No way a 1-loss TCU gets in over a 1-loss Georgia, if that loss is "reasonable" against undefeated #1 Alabama.

Georgia will have the "better" loss and "better" wins.

Plus, we've already seen how the Committee views the Big 12.

I agree. I am a UGA fan and a SEC fan, but the SEC is bad right now. Even with the league being down, the committee still loves it. It's almost like there is only a "power 4" and the big 12 is stuck in limbo between power 5 and mid major.

Neither of you understand the $$$$ aspect of College Football.

I get what you're saying, but don't forget about the Bama/LSU matchup before the playoffs started.

4 playoff spots are buckets of money. 5 Power Conferences. There's a reason the rules were changed so the B12 could have a conference championship.

Leaving a conference out has been a problem. Leaving out a 1 loss conference champ would be a bigger problem.

The NCAA is hanging on by a string. Does the P5 need them? Probably not.

Michigan will not be in the playoff. In other news, Notre Dame's resume continues to get better with a win over USC. ND has to play Miami in a couple of weeks.

They also have NC State and Stanford left. With their schedule and $-producing potential, a 1-loss (by 1 point) Notre Dame is a lock.

Also, while Penn State had an impressive win last night, it will mean nothing if they lose to Ohio State next week. Since Ohio State's loss is OOC, OSU will have a 1+ game lead, and there's no way a team that doesn't even make it's Conference Title Game is getting a National Title shot.

Ohio State last season was in the playoff and didn't play in the conference championship game. Alabama several years ago won a title and didn't play in the conference title game.

I wouldn't say the SEC is bad, I would say it is more like the other conferences than we are used to seeing.

The problem with the other 13 in the SEC is that they're compared to Alabama. GA, LSU, Auburn compare favorably with 2-4 in other conferences.

I think the Committee took so much crap last season, plus the team it put-in laid such a huge egg, that there's no way they do it again this season. Maybe again in the future, but not this season.

A one loss Notre Dame should not get in over a one loss Georgia.
