Twist w/ a Hero 6- October Baseball (waitlist) Topic

Season Five's World Series begins tomorrow and is scheduled to conclude no later than Sept 8th. I'll most likely have the league number sent out on Saturday. Let's get those final 8 openings filled so we can start Season Six without much delay.

I have some playoff credits to spend. Can we sign up for a second team yet?

Yes, owners can sign up for a second team. Just make sure that when you do so, you're picking a team that is likely going to be in the opposite league than your first team. Since you (sawbuxx) selected the 1919 White Sox and 1995 Rockies, you should be fine. I'm guessing that the split will be in the late-1980s or early-1990s.

I want to replace '41 Yankees with the '80 Houston Astros

Congrats to finn2030 on leading the 1970 Cubs to the Season Five World Series victory.

I have set up the league for Season Six, and send the League # out to those who have already claimed a team.

It surprised me to realize that we've never had an Angels team represented in any of the first five seasons of Twist w/ a Hero. I spot a couple of viable options using the October baseball sub-theme.

The 1983 Angels roster features Luis Tiant, Fred Lynn, Reggie Jackson, Rod Carew and Bobby Grich. The 1986 and 2002 rosters aren't bad either. But the one that really excites me is the 2014 Angels. That roster features Albert Pujols, Mike Trout and Josh Hamilton on offense, and several low WHIP/low OAV pitchers that could be used to make an unconventional, but effective, pitching staff... especially if you added a the 289 IP/.99 WHIP that 1976 Frank Tanana provides.

We just need 7 more teams to get this league launched. Tons of great options remain. A couple that caught my attention came from last year's Fall Classic. I personally believe the 2016 Indians would be fairly unbeatable with the additional of 1909 Addie Joss as a Hero. Of course the 2016 Cubs could be even more dangerous if they added 1998 Sammy Sosa's bat to the lineup.

I'm surprised no one has snatched up any of those 1990s Atlanta Braves teams. The 1996 Braves are blacklisted, but that still leaves plenty of teams with Maddux and Smoltz at the top of the rotation, and Chipper Jones anchoring some very explosive offensive attacks. Add 1916 Dick Rudolph or 1915 Tom L. Hughes to the '97 Braves, and you've got a team that's going to be a serious contender.

Still need a few more teams to get started. I think some of those A's teams from the 1970s look like potential powerhouses. That 1972 A's team, for example boasts a pitching staff anchored by Catfish Hunter, Vida Blue and Denny McLain! Add a Hero like Al Simmons or Mark McGwire to a lineup that already includes big hitters like Sal Bando and Reggie Jackson, and you've got a great chance to make it to the postseason. Sign up today!
