OFFENSE vs DEFENSE league Topic

finally! A creative theme league with a fresh idea!

Your team can either be an OFFENSIVE team = all players defensive ratings <= 50
Or...
you can build a DEFENSIVE team = all players efg% <= 50

Lets see these two styles clash!!

IMO, a $52M cap is way too high.

IMO, a $52M cap is way too high.
Those thresholds as well. There are some great seasons from guys with 90+ Def and efg in the 48-50 range like peak Kobe/Duncan/KG. I would make the line under 40 Def and under or under 48 efg

If you make the lines too extreme won't that make all of the rosters too similar? 12 of Steve Nash, 12 Kobe Bryant etc.

I am intrigued, but I think defense can still load up on 3s and boards too much. As nc says a lower cap would help that. Offense teams would have like 10+ mil left over! Interested though.

Ok, so after putting some together I am wrong about left over salary by offense teams. However, the def teams all using Rodman will be able to make up for the missed shots with defense+boards. I still like the idea. We could blacklist Rodman and Wilt to help even things out. Maybe drop salary to 48 or 50?

hey....love the discussion and bouncing of ideas. I'm down to reduce the cap if alot of people think that'd be better. As for the thresholds...I ran this a few years back with def <= 60 and efg <= 50%. I remember offensive squads seemed to perform better across the board, however a defensive team won it all. I'd def be intersted in seeing how this league plays out, and adjusting the thresholds in v2

I easily exceeded 55 mil with just 7 players when making a test offense team.

I was still below 19,000 minutes, and was averaging below 21% per player for usage. If you consider those numbers to be in excess, then I guess I am not playing this simengine correctly. Also, if you don't want to get into fatigue situation of being forced to play someone below 100%, or be in usage problem situation within a game, you would need slight excess minutes AND usage.
