If Colorado makes it to the postseason, Arenado should get it. The guy has been a beast at third and is probably one of the top 5-10 hitters in baseball. Even BL's WAR tells us he's a top player at the plate and in the field. I really like Goldschmidt, but he's still a first basemen.
I'm getting so tired of stuff like this. Arenado is a very good player, but he's a product of Coors offensively.

2017
Home: 307 PA, .330/.386/.634, 17 HR, 72 RBI
Away: 335 PA, .281/.350/.528, 17 HR, 53 RBI

Career
Home: 1500 PA, .312/.362/.592, 83 HR, 310 RBI
Away: 1484 PA, .265/.316/.472, 62 HR, 191 RBI

Those are some stark differences. He's a great defender, and a very good hitter. But there's no way in hell he's a top 5-10 hitter in the game without Coors Field.

There are people equally as tired of the old "it's the field, not the player" argument. Especially when so many MLB parks have their own "quirks" that reward certain types of hitters. Today's players purposely cater their swings to take advantage of those quirks, and should be rewarded for that, not punished.

Regardless, if Stanton gets 60, he's still my #1. If not, Bryant.
For those hating on Arenado, check-out Goldschmidt's Home and Away numbers this season - even bigger drop than Arenado's.

There's a big difference between tailoring your swing/ABs to take advantage of a parks dimensions or quirks (like the Green Monster), and playing in a park where the atmosphere itself greatly enhances hitting. A player does not have to do anything out of the ordinary with his approach in order to take advantage of Coors Field.

Well Goldschmidt is probably the most complete player in the NL. Bats .300, .400 OBP, 30 bombs, 20 steals, and Gold Glove defense.

I think Bryant comes 2nd because he can do a lot of those things too.

Votto placed 3rd 2 years ago, and 7th last year. Think he goes back to 3rd even with the Reds being as bad as they are.

With the success of the Rockies, and the success of Blackmon, I think he finishes 4th due to Arenado taking some of his votes away.

Seager finishes 5th because the Dodgers are gonna get votes. Whether it's Poptart or Seager, one of them is gonna finish top 5.

Stanton will get votes just because of homeruns even if he doesn't do other things well.

Won't be surprised of someone like Max Scherzer finishes 7th in voting.

8th will be a teammate from one of the top 5. My guess is Anthony Rizzo

Can Bryce Harper still finish top 10 in MVP voting? If not then Anthony Rendon

10th will prob be Arenado. No explanation for why.

My top 10

1. Paul Goldschmidt
2. Kris Bryant
3. Joey Votto
4. Charlie Blackmon
5. Corey Seager/ Justin Turner - leaning Seager
6. Giancarlo Stanton
7. Max Scherzer
8. Anthony Rizzo
9. Anthony Rendon/ Bryce Harper
10. Nolan Arenado

Goldschmidt, P ARI 1B 74 275 45 78 11 1 16 59 36 69 9 3 .284 .371 .505 .877
Arenado, N COL 3B 77 299 36 84 19 2 17 53 30 51 3 1 .281 .350 .528 .879

Away #s for the two. Can't see how one guy gets abused for them, yet the other guy gets touted.
Add in the defensive difference, and can't see Goldschmidt above Arenado (if Colorado makes playoffs).

I believe that Blackmon is currently the best player on the Rockies which is why they’ll split votes.

On the D-Backs however, Goldschmidt is by far their best everyday player, with the exception of JD but he joined late.

While they both play Gold Glove defense but Arenado plays a tougher position, the point is they both play Gold Glove defense. It’s not like it’s Arenado vs Hanley Ramirez

Goldschmidt has the edge on BA, OBP, and OPS /OPS+ with a pretty big lead on Stolen Bases.

but who knows with how they vote. It’s just my prediction
