If Colorado makes it to the postseason, Arenado should get it. The guy has been a beast at third and is probably one of the top 5-10 hitters in baseball. Even BL's WAR tells us he's a top player at the plate and in the field. I really like Goldschmidt, but he's still a first basemen.
I'm getting so tired of stuff like this. Arenado is a very good player, but he's a product of Coors offensively.
2017
Home: 307 PA, .330/.386/.634, 17 HR, 72 RBI
Away: 335 PA, .281/.350/.528, 17 HR, 53 RBI
Career
Home: 1500 PA, .312/.362/.592, 83 HR, 310 RBI
Away: 1484 PA, .265/.316/.472, 62 HR, 191 RBI
Those are some stark differences. He's a great defender, and a very good hitter. But there's no way in hell he's a top 5-10 hitter in the game without Coors Field.
Pretty retarded statement.
Votto 2017
Home: 180 OPS+
Away 166 OPS+
Goldschmidt
Home 168 OPS+
Away 151 OPS+
Arenado
Home 161 OPS+
Away 131 OPS+
All three are better at home then away. Difference is? Arenado's defense is still elite no matter where he is. He doesn't pick to play in Colorado, and its a mistake to think he wouldn't perform just as well in Cincinnati or Arizona.
You know what's more retarded? Making blanket statements with no context.
Sure, all three are better at home. But Arenado is the worst of the three at home and on the road, and he's by far the worst on the road. Unless you think 131 is close to 151 or 166. Votto has a better road OPS than Arenado has home OPS. And his defense is irrelevant to my argument as it has no bearing on his hitting ability.
"He's a great defender, and a very good hitter. But there's no way in hell he's a top 5-10 hitter in the game without Coors Field."
Don't be a dumbass.
