Need 1 for Dual Season Prog. League (1922/1952) Topic

We need 1 owner for the 2nd season of a dual season progressive league (1922/1952). The team available is the Pittsburgh Pirates, which is in the NL (1922). The owner has suddenly dropped (without explanation) from several baseball and basketball leagues.

The Pirates won the NL Central title in 1921 with a record of 88-74, 26 games ahead of the 2nd place team in that division.

The post immediately following shows the complete rules for the league Note that the league separates the NL (1922) and AL (1952) and no players or draft picks may be traded between leagues. Consequently only 12 teams are sharing the available players in each era, which results in an overall higher caliber of available players.

The 2nd post following is the 1922 keeper list which I have posted for the Pirates. I have also made the Pirates first round draft pick, which was 3B Babe Pinelli. We are nearly finished with Round 1 of the draft, nd I will continue to draft for the team until a replacement owner is found. If a replacement owner is found quickly, he can start making draft picks as soon as he is ready.

This is a progressive league playing dual eras. Each season we will play 2 years, but we will keep those years completely separate by league (except for interleague play). We play each era simultaneously, one in the NL starting in 1921 and one in the AL starting in 1951. In effect we are playing two progressive leagues, separated by league boundary.

-Drafted players will be owned until they are cut, are traded, or retire

- sSadiums will be owned for the life of the league, unless you appeal for a stadium change. Stadiums will be exclusive and may only be used once in the league

Team names will begin with the city (or state) of your stadium, followed by a nickname of your choice (can be the real name, or a name of your choice.) For instance, if you selected Wrigley Field upon joining the league, your team name could be: Chicago Cubs, or Chicago River Rats etc. It could not be don's dingers, or Tallahassee tigers etc.

No duplicate names please.

Initial division alignment will be geographically based within each league based on cities chosen.

· each team may carry over as many players as it likes to the following season (standard progressive- For instance, the team who had 1923 Babe Ruth in 1923, would have 1924 Babe Ruth in 1924. )

.Subsequent Annual Drafts. E
ach season there will be a separate non-snake rookie/free agent draft for each league to fill out rosters. A drafted player will be owned by its drafting team until that player is traded, is cut, or retires.
The draft for each league will be based on the inverse order of finish, except that for the 1st round only there will be a random lottery (using random.org) for the first 3 positions (bottom 25% of the league). The team with the worst record will have 3 chances, the team with the 2nd worst record will have 2 chances, and the team with the 3rd worst record will have one chance-thus 50% chance for the worst record, 33.3% chance for the 2nd worst team and 16.7% chance for the 3rd worst team. Ties in the inverse order of finish (including lottery teams) will be broken by run differential during the regular season-i.e. runs scored less runs allowed. The team with the worst differential will draft highest among tied teams.1 game playoffs for division titles will be considered to be regular season games for the purposes of the tiebreaker.

Trading of Draft Picks. Trading of draft picks is not allowed for the inaugural draft. For subsequent drafts picks may be traded up to 2 seasons in advance-that is, during the 1922/1952 draft. picks may be traded for 1923/1953 AND 1924/1954.For clarification, as soon as the 1921/1951 season starts, in season trades may include 1922/1952 and 1923/1953 draft picks.
Just like players, draft picks may NOT be traded between leagues-1922 picks (NL) may not be traded for 1952 picks (AL) or for 1952 players (AL).

·at no point in any season will a team from one league/year be able to have a player from another year. For instance, a 1923 team will have all 1923 players. There will be no inter-year trading between 1923 and 1953 teams. (trading between teams of the same year will, of course, be legal and encouraged).

Other rules.

AAA will be set to below-average, so as to provide fatigue relief, but at replacement-player level ability (similar to real life minor leagues). The will be 6 position player and 4 pitchers. They may be used in trades within the same league only.
DH-No DH initially. If and when the AL reaches 1973 we will have the DH in the AL only.
WW-No
Salary Cap $120 Million

Miscellaneous.

The NLCS will be considered the WS of the 1921era, and ALCS will be considered the WS of the 1951 era. The LCS winners will be proclaimed "champions" of their respective eras, and the world series will be a time-travel exhibition match for WIS rewards, personal stats, and bragging rights.

You may join the league by posting below, or by site mail. At a later date I may consider allowing an owner to have teams in both leagues, but I would like to wait a while to see how the league fills.

Since this is a progressive league, please do not join unless you currently anticipate being able to participate for at least 5 seasons-thanks !
