In the meantime, the Bucks return basically the same team they had last year, with Jabari Parker still recuperating from a second torn ACL in his three seasons. He's not expected back until February. Parker (who wants a max deal) and the Bucks failed to come to agreement on extending his rookie deal, so he will be a restricted free agent next summer.

Hard to expect much different this year compared to last year. Should make the playoffs in a weak conference but we need to see some significant development from some players if they hope to move past the first round (the Bucks haven't won a playoff series since the magical run in 2001; every other franchise has won at least one series since).

Game 2: Bucks get thrashed in their home opener, losing 116-97 to the Cavs. Old problems defending the three resurface as Korver hits five of six attempts.

Game 3: Freak scores a career-high 44 and the Bucks hold on to beat Portland 113-110.

Game 4: Giannis scores 34 to lead the Bucks to a victory over Charlotte, despite Dwight Howard's 22 rebounds. Teletovic has a rare bout of competency, hitting five of nine from long-range. Deandre Liggins, the newest Buck, is getting significant playing time off the bench in the last couple games.

Game 5: The Bucks' strategy of confusing the Celtics about how old the floor was didn't have enough of an impact, and the "Return to MECCA" game ended in the way many of those '80s playoff matchups at the MECCA did... with a Bucks loss.

Game 6: Bucks make their one visit to Atlanta a successful win, beating the Hawks 117-106. Giannis becomes (apparently) only the second player (1994 Shaq was the first) to score 28+ in each of his first six games.

Game 7: The Bucks get rolled by the Thunder in a game that was never really competitive. Final score was 110-91, but only because the Thunder stopped trying early.

Game 8: Giannis' season-opening string of 28+ point performances ends at seven... you would think Middleton's career-high 43 would make up for any deficiencies in Freak's results, but you would be wrong. Bucks play very little defense (especially on Malik Monk) and lose in Charlotte 126-121. Teletovic hits four of six threes, but amasses a -20 +/- in his 21 minutes of play. Impressive. Thon Maker nearly matches him with -17 in 19 minutes.

Game 9: Another loss for the Bucks, this one in Detroit, as Andre Drummond hits 14 of 16 free throws to lead the Pistons to a 105-96 win.

ESPN reporting that the Bucks are sending Greg Monroe and a first round pick to Phoenix for disgruntled Eric Bledsoe. Hopefully he will like the hair salons in Milwaukee.

I don't have any real objection to moving Monroe... he's been productive off the bench but his style never really fit with the rest of the roster, or with Kidd's preferred style of play. This could hurt the bench, but someone gets moved to the bench as a result of the deal.

I guess it's worth a shot, but I don't see Bledsoe really solving any of the team's problems. They moved a big body for a small body that doesn't shoot very well (33.4% career from long-range). Seems like the Bucks already had a ton of those.

Game 10: Giannis scores 40, but also has 8 turnovers, and the Bucks drop a game in Cleveland 124-119. The Bucks continue to give up a lot of points and to send the opposition to the free throw line often.

Game 11: Bledsoe debuts with 13 points and seven assists as the Bucks snap a four-game skid with a 94-87 win in San Antonio. Giannis has 28 points and 12 rebounds.

Game 12: Lonzo Ball becomes the youngest player to record a triple double, but the Bucks hold off the Lakers for a 98-90 victory.

Game 13: The Bucks improve to 3-0 in the "Bledsoe era" with a 110-103 win over Memphis.

Game 14: The Bucks block 16 shots, needing nearly all of them to hold off the Pistons, 99-95. Rotation down to basically eight guys (though rookie DJ Wilson played two minutes) due to injuries hobbling Delly and Telly.

Game 15: The streak ends with an ugly 111-79 loss in Dallas. Giannis has 24 and 17.

Game 16: Washington takes advantage of Milwaukee's new offensive malaise, beating the Bucks in Milwaukee 99-88. The Bucks head west for four games before returning home Dec. 2 to play Sacramento.

Game 17: Giannis misses the first game of the trip with knee soreness, but Middleton puts up 40 and the Bucks survive a last-second game-tying three-pointer by Booker to beat Phoenix in overtime.

Game 18: Giannis returns, but the Bucks (as usual) lose in Utah, 121-108 this time. That Jason Kidd defense is working wonders.

Game 19: Bucks get a rare laugher, emptying the bench at the end of a 112-87 win over Sacramento.

Game 20: Bucks close out a 3-1 West road trip with a victory in Portland. Giannis has a 20/9/5/3/3 line.

Game 21: The Bucks return home and hold off Sacramento for a 109-104 victory behind 33 from Giannis (17-22 from the line)

Game 22: 40 from Giannis is not enough as the Bucks fall to Boston, 111-100.

Game 23: The Bucks beat Detroit for the second time in three tries this season, winning 104-100 at the Bradley Center.

Game 24: The Bucks get revenge on the Mavericks, winning 109-102 behind 31 points from Middleton. Marquette grad Wes Matthews scores 29 in his visit to his old home court.

Maybe they should trade for a D-playing Center.

Game 25: The Bucks avenge their loss at Utah with a 117-100 victory over the Jazz at home. Giannis scores 37; Middleton and Bledsoe contribute 20 each.

Game 26: The Bucks find the Pelicans' twin towers too much to deal with, dropping a 115-108 game in New Orleans.

Game 27: The Bucks allow the Bulls a ridiculous number of offensive rebounds and suffer an embarrassing home loss to Chicago.

Game 28: Giannis leads the Bucks in just about every category, helping the team hang with Houston, but in the end the Rockets prevail, 115-111.

Game 29: The Bucks survive a 19-0 run by the Cavs and rally to beat Cleveland 119-116 at the Bradley Center.

Game 30: A late injury to Kemba Walker helps the Bucks score the last nine points of the game to take a 109-104 win over Charlotte in the first of a back-to-back series.

Game 31: With Giannis sitting out (knee soreness), the Bucks don't have enough to get past the Hornets in Charlotte, losing 111-106.

Game 32: Giannis returns, but the Bucks choke up another home game to the Bulls in a post-Christmas embarrassment.

Game 33: The Bucks unexpectedly blitz the T-wolves in the fourth, outscoring them 27-12 in that period to steal a 102-96 win.

Game 34: Milwaukee chokes up an early 20-point lead against a Thunder team playing without Jeff George, but Freak wins it at the end with a dunk (the refs helpfully ignore that he stepped out of bounds on the play). Bucks win 97-95.

Game 35: The Bucks start the New Year in Toronto, losing 131-127 in overtime as deRozan scores 52 for the Raptors.

Game 36: The first home game of 2018 goes much better, as the Bucks whip the Pacers 122-101.

Game 37: The home rematch with Toronto is not very good. Outscored 43-19 in the third quarter (nice halftime talk, Coach), the Bucks are blown out.

Game 38: The Bucks bounce back to beat the Wizards in DC, 110-103. Giannis scores 34; Wall and Beal shoot 12-38 for Washington.

Game 39: Apparently nobody told the Bucks what time the game started; they get down by 20 early and stay there until narrowing things a bit at the end. 109-96 loss at Indy.

Game 40: The bucks return home to face Orlando, taking a big lead in the third and surviving a near-collapse in the fourth to beat the Magic 110-103.

Game 41: The Warriors come to town and play without Steph, but it doesn't matter. Durand takes over and Golden State runs away in the fourth, 108-94.

Giannis is a monster

Game 42: The Bucks start the second half of the season with a Sunday afternoon game in Miami. They don't wake up in time, and lose 97-79.

Game 43: Playing another matinee, the Bucks recover from their usual third quarter swoon to top the Wizards 104-95 in DC.

Game 44: Billed as a "revenge game" by the local radio station, the Bucks fail to extract proper revenge on the Heat, falling apart in the fourth quarter. Word is that Freak will miss the next two games with knee soreness (has already caused him to miss two other games this season).

Game 45: Playing without Freak, the Bucks fall behind by 16 early, battle back to tie it, and collapse in the fourth, losing 116-94 to the Sixers.
