Rules

1. No clones, rookies or waiver wire.

2. The team owner is responsible for drafting and managing a team that remains in compliance with the league rules and is not forced into any rules violation.

3. Each owner is responsible for verifying compliance with league rules of their opponent. If a rules violation takes place, it must be reported to the league commissioner by sitemail within 3 games of the violation taking place. Violations greater than 3 games back are not subject to review by the commissioner.

4. 7 exclusive drafted players, plus 5 non-exclusive undrafted players. The 5 non-exclusive undrafted players may be any player not selected in the draft.

5. Draft Sequence..ABABAB. 1 pick rounds 1-5 and 2 picks in round 6.

6. Draft order: The returning owners that did not make the playoffs will be in a NBA-style draft lottery. The lottery will determine the first three picks. The other returning owners will then be placed behind them in order of regular season record from worst to best, with the league runner-up and champ placed at the end. New owners will be then placed behind everyone in order of who joined first.

Owners will now have the option to choose their draft slot (however, "closer to 2-6" or "closer to 19-23" is prohibited. if you want those slots, you must select closer to 1 or closer to 24). This will be done in draft order. So if the owner with the top pick chooses to draft in the 24th spot, the 2nd overall pick can choose any draft spot besides #24. This will continue until all the spots are filled.

Tie breakers are decided by head to head, then conference record, then division record, then point differential for head to head. New owners are seeded after returning owners by order of entry. It is assumed that an owner wants 'closer to 1', unless stated otherwise.

7. A posted pick is NOT final. You can change the pick until the next pick is posted. If there's conflict, the changed pick has to change back to whatever it was before the next pick was posted. The honor system will be invoked here, but bear in mind that this is a privilege. If it is abused, we will go back to the way things were.

8. Divisions. Once the league fills, I will do a random realignment. If you have a championship caliber team, you will win the title regardless of who is in your division, right?

9. During the draft, sitemail the next 2 owners on the schedule after making your pick..or state that you cannot sm and somebody will take care of it.

10. The "Commissioner" may take control of any team refusing to comply with the ODL league rules. A warning will be issued in the league forum and a sitemail, after which the owner has 3 games to comply. All games in violation are 'losses'.

Lottery

Below is how the lotto will work. I will post the results here on 11/30. I will also sitemail the results to everyone.

Lottery Details:
We will use the New York lottery system. It's basically a keno draw where 20 random numbers are chosen between 1-80. There are 351 draws - every four minutes starting at Midnight and ending at 23:56 EST. We will select one days worth of drawings. Each team will be assigned a certain number of drawings (time specific). The number of drawings each team will receive is closely based on the actual NBA lottery percentages based on each teams respective regular season record. Then once ALL the NY lottery selections have been made we'll add up each set of twenty numbers and the team with lowest combined total wins the 1st draft spot and so on for the first three picks. After the first three have been determined, the remaining picks will be in inverse order from the previous season's win total with new owners drafting their slot after everyone else. In the event of a tie we will compare each set of numbers starting with the lowest number in each selected set until one team wins. For example if two teams have a total of 621 and one set of the lowest numbers is (1, 2, 4, 7, 12 etc.) and another group has (1, 2, 3, 8, 14 etc.) the 1's cancel out, the 2's cancel out, and the 3 is lower than 4 so the 1, 2, 3, 8, 14 etc. set of numbers wins. Non-playoff teams from the previous season whose owners are not returning will be left blank. Any questions just ask.
