Odd or commonplace in near empty conferences? Topic

Got our All Conference teams in The Peach Belt(5 users). I've got 5 3rd teamers(1 2nd, 4 HM and one clown that was all nothing).

It just looked funny to me because all the boxes were shaded.

I suspect it's not all that odd in 1-2 user conferences. They might dominate 1st/2nd team.

Humblebrag, anyone?

I guess you missed the "3rd teamer" part in a 5 user conference. IOW, I had ZERO 1st team, ONE 2nd team. Seems like I could have done better, no?

That's pretty cool. Never happens to me because 1/3 of my players are defensive specialists who never score.

Reasonably common.

Happens to me all the time in the Midwest in Knight. Partially how I play. I've had all 12 players make at least Honorable Mention at least once. I rarely get 1st team all-conference players because I usually run 11-12 deep and have multiple players scoring 8-11 ppg rather than one or two outstanding scorers/contributors.

When I won the National Championship in Knight last season, my DePauw team had 11 of our 12 players named at least Honorable Mention all conference, with I believe 10 of those 11 (maybe 9) making 3rd team or Honorable Mention.

Amusingly enough the only player not to make the All-Conference team in any capacity was Michael Phelps, who besides his amazing name is 7th all time in assists at DePauw and led the team in APG last season.

Yup my team in Knight owns the conference POTY award and 1st Team All conf awards. But there is only one other owner. Those awards are usually the only thing I can hang my hat on after a 1st round NT bounce. There aren’t much benefits from playing in an empty conference, my RPI and SOS take a huge hit from conference play every season that I always end up with a crappy seed.

If you schedule 10 legitimate opponents in non-conference, you can usually scrape together a respectable RPI/SOS. I won it all last season with only one other user in my conference. In my past championships and deep tournament runs in Knight, there were never more than 4-5 users max in my conference.

I had a top 10 RPI and SOS at the end of non conference play. Going into the CT, my RPI was 27 and SOS was 120. This season I had assembled my best squad to date but I had to be realistic with myself, I needed a high seed to have a chance at a Sweet 16 run. I got a 7 seed and a brutal 1st round matchup. That I lost by 1 point. What hurt my resume is that I had no notable wins since non conference play.
