RUSH: There’s new news about climate change. And this is in a journal of great repute. This is in the journal Science. And it’s not a fringe outlier journal. This is one of the mainstream, universally accepted scientific journals.

And there is a story — it’s not a story. It’s a report. It’s a scientific report that carbon dioxide, CO2, that which causes the greenhouse effect, is much, much, much less impactful than anybody knew. Do you know why? Because there’s more nitrogen out there soaking it up than anybody knew! According to this story, climate change “scientists” — and I put that in quotes ’cause I think they’re political activists. But climate change activists think that plant life is the only source of mitigating the amount of CO2 in the air and that because there’s not much else in nature to deal with it, it just builds up and builds up and builds up and builds up and eventually we’re all gonna fry!

Well, these guys, these scientists have discovered that there is more nitrogen in the air than anybody knew, which is mitigating all of this new CO2 that we’re pumping out via the use of fossil fuels, and they go on to say that the long-term impact of climate change is going to be much, much less. Now, this is in the journal Science. I want to see if this makes any impact. I don’t think it’s going to. I think it’s gonna be ignored.

I think if it’s not ignored, it’s gonna be blown to smithereens, because climate change is a political thing. It’s a political element. It’s a political movement. It has nothing to do with science. And I don’t know these scientists that wrote this — it’s a peer reviewed article, but even with that the climate change people don’t want there to be good news. It’s just like the race industry does not want a solution. It’s like there isn’t a bureaucracy in the world that wants to go out of business.

The purpose of bureaucracy is to stay in business and to grow. And any bureaucrat will tell you that. And the fastest way for a bureaucracy to remove itself is to solve problems. Well, it’s the same thing with the climate change movement. They don’t want any evidence accepted that climate change isn’t as bad or that it isn’t happening. There’s too much money involved, and there’s too big a political agenda involved.

But the interesting thing about this, to me, is that this is all based on science. That these scientists have taken the scientific reasons given for climate change, they have responded with their own scientific research and their own science refutes the so-called settled science of the climate change advocates.

Now, here’s another thing. In science, how many things are ever really settled? In truth, the answer is very few. Science is an ongoing curiosity. Science is an ongoing investigation. Science is ongoing trial and error. Science never ends. Science is always trying to establish things irrefutably. But very few things ever reach that level.

A consensus of scientists doesn’t mean anything because science is not up to a vote. Science is not democracy. It’s not part of the democratic process. And when these people come along and say climate change is settled science, they’re just trying to shut down debate and shut it off.

RUSH: Yeah, do we have time here? We do. Grab sound bite number 27. We have another montage. This goes back to November 2015 through October of 2016. And this is so many Washington establishment smart people, Drive-By Media experts, Republican establishment elites, think tank specialists, Never Trumpers, all saying that Trump would never win, all predicting a Hillary landslide.

TIM MILLER: (8/18/16) Trump is gonna get killed in the general election.

ALEX CONANT: (8/18/16) Trump is gonna suffer an embarrassing loss this fall.

RACHEL MADDOW: (7/29/16) Unless this election happens on Mars, Donald Trump will lose.

KARL ROVE: (11/2015) Republicans are not going to win this next election.

MARK CUBAN: (8/1/16) It’s a landslide for Hillary. No question.

EVAN MCMULLIN: (8/14/16) Donald Trump will lose.

JEB BUSH: (12/15/15) You’re not going to be able to insult your way to the presidency.

RYAN LIZZA: (8/17/16) Trump is on his way to lose in the biggest loss since 1984.

JORGE RAMOS: (9/1/16) His strategy is to win the White House without Latinos. I don’t think he can do it.

LINDSEY GRAHAM: (8/16/16) Donald Trump is destroying the Republican Party’s chance.

TED CRUZ: (2/28/16) If we nominate Donald, Hillary beats him.

DAVID AXELROD: (10/23/16) I don’t know any consultant who privately
believes that Donald Trump’s going to win.

DANA PERINO: (8/18/16) Trump would very much be able to get 35-40% of the vote and not win.

MIKE MURPHY: (8/8/16) He’s a demagogue and a neo-racist and I hope he loses. He deserves to lose.

DIANE MACEDO: (8/15/16) A landslide defeat is very possible.

LAWRENCE O’DONNELL: (8/15/16) Could be headed for a landslide defeat.

BILL KRISTOL: (9/23/16) Donald Trump will just choke.

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: (05/ 2016) I don’t see how he can win.

BARACK OBAMA: (2/16/16) I continue to believe Mr. Trump will not be president.

RUSH: So you had a lot of luminaries in there. You had Rachel Maddow, Karl Rove, Alex Conant, Mark Cuban, Jeb Bush, Jorge Ramos, Lindsey Grahamnesty, David Axelrod, Dana Perino, Mike Murphy, Republican consultant extraordinaire. He’s the guy that got three delegates with a hundred million dollars, three delegates for Jeb. Lawrence O’Donnell, Dr. Krauthammer, Bill Kristol, and of course Barack Hussein O.

And once again, you have what? You have conventional wisdom, you had rat-a-tat type thinking and utterances. You basically had people who Jimmy Kimmel described as what? Parroting talking points. All saying the same thing. These are the people we’re supposed to listen to. These are the people that haven’t been normal since Trump won. These are the people that have been discombobulated and driven one or two degrees of insane. And they have yet to recover.

RUSH: I want to go back to Trump and the Cohen raid because I mentioned this at the top of the program. Here’s Bernstein. This is Bernstein of Woodward and Bernstein, this is Carl Bernstein. And he was on Anderson Cooper 99 last night talking about the FBI raid on Trump attorney Michael Cohen’s offices.

BERNSTEIN: This raid is about scaring the hell out of the president of the United States. And this has been Trump’s biggest nightmare throughout this investigation. If those investigators find evidence of criminality and conspiracy between the president and his lawyer, that evidence goes back to the Mueller investigation.

RUSH: Wait a minute.

BERNSTEIN: It does not stay with the Southern District of New York if it’s related to Russia in any way. And that also is a huge factor in this constitutional crisis.

RUSH: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait just a second. First place, is anybody bothered by the fact that a journalist is celebrating the fact that law enforcement, deep state, intelligence people have the ability to run a raid on a lawyer’s offices for the purpose of scaring the president of the United States? It seems to be what Bernstein’s applauding here. “This raid’s about scaring the hell out of the president.”

Do you think that’s why the SDNY did this raid? Do you think the United States attorney, Southern District New York, in conjunction with the FBI agents who would actually do the raid, are sitting there saying, “You know what we need to do? We need to scare the hell out of this Trump guy. What can we do? What can we do to scare this guy?”

RUSH: So Bernstein is frustrated that he can’t intimidate Trump, that he can’t scare Trump. So he thinks this scared Trump and that’s what the purpose of it was because to these people, this is personal. This is personal. Their visceral hatred of Trump is personal. And so they’re living vicariously through these investigations. And they are hoping and they’re imagining that what’s going on is what they would be doing if they were running these investigations.

RUSH: Okay, polling data. I mentioned there’s some fascinating polling data out there. I have it for you here in not any particular chronological order. The first story is from Breitbart, but it’s a Quinnipiac poll, and the upshot of this poll: only 23% of the American people believe Stormy Daniels is an important issue.

Despite weeks and weeks of media hype about Stormy Daniels and the Make America Horny Again Tour, not only is President Trump’s job approval rating jumped in the latest Quinnipiac poll, but only 23% of Americans believe the alleged affair between Trump and Stormy Daniels is an important issue.

A massive majority of 73% say it’s not important. Even 51% of Democrats agree that it’s not an important issue, along with 79% of independents. And there’s no notable gender gap on the question. So it’s not that a lot of women think it is important but more men think it isn’t. It’s across the board a vast majority of people do not think it’s any big deal.

Quinnipiac sums up their Stormy findings this way. Yes, he did it. No, we don’t care. A big yawn from voters on Stormy Daniels, President Trump and the payoff. This includes people being asked to comment, weigh in on the payoff. Now, I hate to tell you this, but none of this is gonna matter to the Southern District of New York. And none of this is going to matter to the FBI.

They’re not gonna care that Quinnipiac did a poll and found that only 23% believe Stormy Daniels and the payoff is a big deal. All they’re gonna see here is that there may have been a serious violation of federal campaign finance law, and they’re gonna run it down and they’re gonna pursue it to whatever extent they can, and public opinion isn’t going to matter.

So where will public opinion impact this if at all? ‘Cause investigators are not gonna look at this, “Oh, my God. We got drop this. Look at this. The American people don’t even care.” Since when does the deep state care about the American people? But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have any impact at all.

If 73% of the American people don’t think this is a big deal, including the $130,000 payoff from Cohen to Stormy Daniels, and yet the media will not let go of it — and, believe me, the Stormy Daniels story is now rivaling the missing Malaysian airliner in terms of minutes and hours and days of coverage on CNN.

If 73% of the American people don’t think it’s any big deal and the Drive-Bys won’t let go of it, the Drive-Bys are gonna drive people away, the Drive-Bys are gonna tick people off, and it’s gonna end up having about as much impact on Trump as the Access Hollywood video did. But it’s not gonna stop the investigators, that we know of.

I feel very confident in suggesting that law enforcement — I’ve only known — (laughing) — I’ve only known one law enforcement person who reacted to public pressure on a legal matter. It just doesn’t happen. And I don’t think it’s gonna matter here. But it still is an interesting data point, don’t you think, because with all the media coverage, doesn’t this kind of make the point, you watch the media on this, and do they not give the impression that all of America is outraged by this?

Do they not report this as though everybody has had it, that Trump is nothing but a scum bucket and this is the latest evidence? And everybody’s appalled and everybody wants Trump gone? Don’t they report it that way like they do everything they believe in? And yet the truth is 73% of the people watching ’em don’t think that. So the media further alienates themselves from people in their audience.

Now, this next poll is a crazy one. This is reported at CNN. Here’s the headline: “Polls Show the GOP is Now President Trump’s Party — President Donald Trump has become more popular since the election,” says the analyst here at CNN. “His net favorability rating has climbed by more than 8 percentage points since he before the 2016 election. A closer examination of his polling reveals why he’s become more popular: It’s almost all about the demise of the anti-Trump Republican.”

In other words, the Never Trumpers are fading away to the point of practical irrelevance. See, the Never Trumpers never were the Republican — if you ask me, the Never Trumpers never really have been. This story assumes that they have been. And the polling data shows that the GOP is now Trump’s party, meaning Trump has taken over the party, and the Republican Party identity is the Trump agenda.

“A large reason why Republicans have been unwilling to speak out like they did before the election is that far more members of the Republican electorate now like Trump. That is, it’s electorally dangerous to go against him.” CNN shocked by this, bewildered by this, doesn’t make any sense to them because CNN has been reporting on Trump’s popularity as though everybody hates Trump like they do.

Remember when all the haters were clambering that Comey would bring Trump down with all his "evidence"? LOL. All he had was more of the same baseless accusations and self-serving opinions.

Three sources familiar with the investigation said the findings Mueller has collected on Trump’s attempts to obstruct justice include: His intent to fire former FBI Director James Comey; his role in the crafting of a misleading public statement on the nature of a June 2016 Trump Tower meeting between his son and Russians; Trump’s dangling of pardons before grand jury witnesses who might testify against him; and pressuring Attorney General Jeff Sessions not to recuse himself from the Russia investigation
