Archaeology and its parent discipline, Anthropology, are not science. They are best guess interpretations (like all social science) of a woefully incomplete record weaved with a large dose of creative writing. I have degrees in Anthropology and my Master thesis was on Amerindian populations (including the Hopi/Puebla.)

What the Internet is telling you is more a socio-political statement. Without a written history and relying primarily on either oral traditions (which change subtly from generation to generation but over centuries can display a large variance) or archaeological remains (which are notoriously misleading because they only show a snapshot of society without any cultural depth,) nobody knows anything concrete.

That's not the way those disciplines work. So, am I gonna argue with it? I really don't care. If you want to believe something is scientific fact when it's really opinion...Go for it. It's like learning about World War I by reading Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms. It may not be accurate but it's a really good read.
