That is because you are not one of them. There should not be a cap on income. I think 35% of $1Bn is plenty....$350mil.
If you support socialism then move to Sweden.
I wouldn't mind moving to Sweden or Finland... talk to people from there. Quite nice.
The social programs aren't bad either. Just saying.
tang, the reason why socialism works in Sweden is because Sweden has a small population that is ethnically homogenous, speaking almost universally the same OFFICIAL language, 66% belonging to a single church (The Church of Sweden...)
Are you catching on? Comparing and contrasting the USA to Sweden isn't even apples to oranges...it's apples to electronics.
I didn't compare and contrast the USA to Sweden, or Finland, or Norway. All I said was that it works there.
Although I am curious as to why any of those differences is a big deal? More population=more taxpayers, ethnicity is pretty irrelevant when talking about social programs, there are ways around language and religion...
My point is common language, heritage, religion, skin color, etc. lends itself more to collectivism. Great diversity, as we have in the US, lends itself more to individualism. Collectivism and socialism go hand in hand. Individualism and socialism are oil and water.
I guess that's true. Good point.
Now, would implementing Socialism change the culture?
Probably. I'm just fearful (actually, I'm certain) that it would be a violent change...from both sides...one side violently implementing and the other side violently resisting.
That happens with all change. But it wouldn't be violent. All that would have to happen is we elect Bernie, then he gets popular and suddenly a Social Democracy party becomes the top party. Voila.
