Are 390 foot home runs worth more than 450 foot home runs?
Begging the question. Changing his approach will likely result in less home runs, not shorter home runs.
Making more contact with also result in more balls in play, i.e more hits and more opportunities to advance runners.

Unless you think he'll turn into a 6'7", 285 lb version of Mario Mendoza.
Round and round we go.

Obviously there is a trade off when a player changes his approach to make more contact. Otherwise everyone would swing to just make contact. How hard you hit the ball directly impacts how likely you are to be out.

how do you know that? There's no way to know that until he does it.
No one knows for sure. What I do know is that Judge hit 50+ home runs with a 422 OBP. Why **** with that on the hope that maybe making more contact improves it? He had one of the top 2 or 3 offensive seasons in 2017.

Didn't Mike Trout, after an MVP or MVP-like, season say "I'm going to work on cutting down my strikeouts"?

Are you also smarter than Mike Trout when it comes to his approach?

He did say that and I guarantee he meant he was trying to get more hits. He wasn’t trying to trade Ks for ground outs.

If BL ever watched a game, he's stroke out before the end of the 1st inning.

"OMG!!!! ALL OF THEM ARE TRYING TO MAKE CONTACT!!!! WTF!??!?!?!"

So Judge shouldn't try to do the same thing?

Or, to play your game...

"OMG!!! Are you saying guys who try to make contact are trying to get hits?!??! You're a genius!!!!"

Shockingly, Trout did indeed cut down on his strikeouts and his OPS went up.

Weird, huh?

If BL ever watched a game, he'd get scared and start crying.

So, to recap BL's genius on this page alone, we have...

1. Mike Trout can work on cutting down on his strikeouts, and watch his OPS go up, but it's just stupid for Aaron Judge to do the same thing.
2. MLB players who try to make contact are actually trying to get hits.

How in the hell does BL NOT have a job with a MLB team? Dude is a baseball savant.

I think you missed this:

Judge is already good. No need for him to try to get better.
11/3/2017 8:13 PM
Well, that's just lazy American BL speaking.
11/3/2017 8:15 PM
But I guess Mike Trout wasn't already good. Otherwise, he wouldn't have tried to get better.

Of course he's gonna change his approach next season. He's gonna have to work on it. Mike is not nuts BL, it's what players do. They try and get better. You don't think anybody with the Yankees said to Judge "we're gonna have to work on making more contact next season"? You think if he doesn't change his approach he'll hit 52 homeruns next season? Because he won't.
This is key. Pitchers are already adjusting to him. Look at his playoff performance. No way he repeats his 2017 stats next season without a major adjustment

Kind of like Bellinger consistently striking out in the WS because the pitchers kept throwing the same ****** pitch and he kept on swinging at it.
