Follow the rules and draft your team.

My apologies to Don McLean
You must draft 4 centers, 4 rw’s and 4 lw’s, 6 d-men and either 2 or 3 goalies. The salaries of the 4 forwards at each position must be between $19.5 and $20 million. The total salaries for the 6-d-men must be between $29.5 and $30 million and the total goalies’ salaries must fall between $5.8 and $6 million. The scrubs make up the remainder of the $100 million team salary.

Nothing unusual about the draft, right? Ahhh, but here is what makes this draft unique. IF you draft your team and hit $100 million right on, send me your drafted team showing your salaries and totals as proof. Once I confirm your calculations are correct, your salary cap becomes $110 million. Hit $100 million dead on, and you get another $10 million to play with. Send me your team for checking.

Limit of 2 teams per person, no lasting injuries or suspensions, no WW, no ML’ers, no clones, no trades, no shootouts. Salary cap is $100 million or $110 million.

You do not have to hit the $100 million dead on, but obviously an extra $10 million could help. I debated not banning Chuck from the league, but NOT awarding him the $10 million even if he hit the $100 dead on. However, he was the first to send me his team, and he did something I am hoping everyone will do. He gave me a breakdown of salary totals by position. Here is what he included as well as his list of players:

C's - $19 880 342
LW's - $19 619 837
RW's - $19 602 311
Def' - $29 962 925
G's - $5 828 678
Bench - $5 104 917
Total - $100 000 000

*** Remember, if you hit the $100 million and get the additional $10 million, that money can ONLY be used to upgrade your roster. The 23 players you drafted to hit the target cannot be changed. Just their salaries can be changed.***

In of course. But a question. With the $10M, are you able to swap players for anybody or do you have to use the $10M to upgrade your current players? For instance, if one of my D is Duncan Keith and I get the extra $10M. Do I have to use the money to upgrade Keith to a better version, or can I completely swap him out for a different player? My vote would be to upgrade a player and not swap for a different player.

and a question....let's say we hot the 100 mil mark and get the extra 10 mil.....can we spend it anywhere on the roster?

After much perusal, I am inclined to go with your idea, beeb. It might be easier to just upgrade the players you already have on your roster to a team salary just below $110 million. Unless, of course, there is a ton of disagreement.

Oh that was my intention, however, somehow I managed to win the finale. That gave me the founder's credit plus the credit for winning the league. I thought (for about a millisecond) of giving both teams to someone but then decided, what the heck. The Sim Gods smiled on me, maybe that is a good omen. I still would like to break the tie with my friend from "the Hammer".
