Potential and work ethic Topic

Do you guys have any rough numbers in this area? For example, assuming both players get equal starts/playing time over their career...will an average potential guy with a starting WE of 50 grow as much during his career as a high potential guy with a starting WE of 30?

I have no numbers to base this on, but I'd go with the average guy and 50 WE over the 30 WE guy.

I'm building a model using my D2 Rockne team to figure this out. So far, I would say that ~30 more points of Work Ethic + Average Potential = Good Potential.

If you are in a position where you could start the good potential guy in his freshman year, his WE will go up.

Thanks for your input fellas

good question. My guess , and I emphasize it is just an educated guess , is that the average player with WE 50 would grow "more" than the high growth guy with a 30 WE.

Depends on number of games, practice plan, playing time and when you're taking your final measurement.

And a little WIS magic

What does the number in parenthesis after our post count mean btw? Just noticed it...

Number of posts today, I think.

Players will also improve at different rates within each level. Look at the scouting reports and you will see references to "not continuing to work hard", or "always wanting to get better " or such. Tells you they will grow and level off or steadily improve. So good potential + always work hard may grow more than high potential + lazy as a coon hound.

katz is that separate from evaluating work ethic?

I’d take the 30 high potential. HP recruits improve more in the key areas where you need it. AP guys improve but sometimes it’s with 4 points of durability and not GI or another key attribute

I don't look at it as separate, but it will affect a player you may wait to play until Jr/Sr year if it says he may not work hard. He may have spent his best growth years on the bench.

Ok, how do you find out the potential of a recruit other than the description in the AC or HC vists?
