Did Aaron Judge get screwed? Topic

Seriously though, I thought Altuve would win. But I thought Judge would be a much closer second.

And who the **** gave Ramirez a first place vote over Altuve and Judge? That's messed up.
Probably somebody from Cleveland.

BL and dahs must be ****** that the writer of this article did not adhere to their definition of "valuable".

Without Judge the Yankees don't make the playoffs. Without Altuve the Astros still make the playoffs.

Therefore Aaron Judge was more valuable to his team then Altuve was to the Astros.

Therefore Judge was screwed.
With that kind of error free crystal ball, you'd think you would be a better gambler.

Maybe if Judge took his bat off his shoulder, he’d win the MVP

Uh no, that’s not how it works. It’s not the Yankees MVP. This is the American League MVP. Who was the American League’s Most Valuable Player. Altuve. He’s a better hitter, better fielder, and a better runner than Judge.

Even if we use this absolutely absurd logic, you're just downright wrong.

The best teams to miss the playoffs in the American League had 80 wins. The Yankees could have gone 81-81 and still earned a wildcard spot. That's 10 fewer wins.

The only way your argument holds up is if you think the 2nd-richest franchise in baseball wouldn't have filled right field with somebody who would have kept them within 10 wins of what they had with Judge. Bottom line is, the American League wasn't competitive this year. The only close race late was between the Yankees and Red Sox for the AL East. If the Yankees had won that maybe you could argue that Judge made a significant difference in the Yankees' end-of-season result. But they didn't, even with Judge.

I rarely agree with dahs, but it's hard to argue one player made all the difference when a team made the playoffs by 10 games.

I love how sj uses “therefore” like he’s a retarded Perry Mason “proving” his case.

BL is right. Instead, sj should have just tried to introduce a random player, say Milt Pappas, into the discussion. Because that's much more intelligent.
