I picked that as an approximation because post-season ABs are limited.

Over the course of 100 ABs, it's a little difficult to tell how big the gap between them really is. A difference of 2 hits may be significant to you because you're all over the Papi train, but it's not a big difference.

I do appreciate that you went full BL in your post though, claiming that Papi was responsible for every run they scored in that WS. That makes it much easier to write you off as an idiot now.
Look at the 2013 WS and maybe NOT every run but 90% would you agree with that?
He had an amazing WS, no doubt. But you can't say definitively that they don't win without him.

Game 1: Sox win 8-1. Ortiz responsible for 4 runs (3 RBI, 2 runs - two of those overlap on a HR)
Game 2: Sox win 4-2. Ortiz responsible for 2 runs
Game 3: Sox win 3-1. Ortiz not responsible for any runs
Game 4: Sox win 6-1. Ortiz responsible for 2 runs

There were clearly other people on that team doing their jobs in addition to Ortiz.

Ortiz hit .688 in the 2013 World Series, the highest batting average in World Series history. The rest of the Red Sox hit a combined .169. Ortiz reached base 19 times in 25 plate appearances. Would you agree that they don't beat NYY in 2004 w/o him?

Getting hot in ONE series shouldn't make you a HOF player, even when you have borderline stats, a big smile, and the worship of New England.

Especially when the only reason you own a glove is for interleague play.

Brian Doyle his .571 in a WS. And he played the field.

They likely don't win Games 4 and 5 without him. He was 1-8 in Games 6 and 7. Schilling, Lowe and Damon were the driving forces in those games.

IF they dont win 4 and 5 then there is no 6 and 7 and only a moron (not you) would say his in season stats were marginal.

It's not called The Hall of Stats.
But that’s what it’s based on. The only players where fame came before stats were Catfish Hunter, and Bill Mazeroski. Both meh players.
Is it?

Then why is Ortiz gonna walk in his first year of eligibility and Martinez will walk in only if a ticket accompanies him? 'splain that.
Cuz even post-Moneyball, all these old voters don’t understand which stats are good. They’ll prob vote another RBI hound in over Edgar like Harold Baines or something stupid
so the members of the Baseball Writers of America who, you know, write about baseball for a living don't understand which stats are good, but you do? I admit some of the writers are clueless but a good percentage of them have forgotten more about baseball than you'll ever know.
1. These same writers gave RPs the MVP
2. I doubt that, Bill James is my god, and only he will ever forget more than I’ll ever know.
