Oh my God yes! I'm not sure if it was Ball Four or another book, but I remember a former player talking about how many of those Greenies were consumed. It sounded like they were like ******* Skittles. Everyone took them.

Yeah, I like how all those guys from the 60s and 70s are all up in arms about steroids. Well, greenies are a performance enhancing drug too.

I think Morgan's letter comes off as either incredibly naive or dumb. I'm fairly certain that Joe Morgan knew plenty of very good players who roided during his time. Is he really saying that if he was a player in the late 80s or 90s he wouldn't have done it? Doubtful.

Greenies aren't much different than drinking copious amounts of coffee. You can eat 5-6 NoDoze and get the same effect.

You said drinking coffee or taking nodoze gave you the same effect as amphetamines.

It doesn’t. If it did, someone addicted to amphetamines could just replace amphetamines with caffeine and stop taking amphetamines.

It’s like saying aspirin and morphine are the same because they both ease pain. Just because caffeine and amphetamines are both stimulants, doesn’t mean they have the same effect.
