If you lose a player in the Rule 5 draft, and the other team offers him back. If the original team claims him off waivers, does he still need to remain on the ML roster the whole season?

If he's offered back, first he goes on waivers with Rule 5 status. The entire league gets a shot at him before he can come back to you, but they have to accept Rule 5 and keep him on their ML roster. If he gets through everyone, his Rule 5 status is removed. At that point he can be demoted, but his salary remains at 327k, whether you accept him back or Refuse and leave him with the claiming team.

The original team can't claim him off waivers. In order to get back to the original team he has to clear waivers and be offered back, at which point all the Rule 5 restrictions go away (though the salary bump doesn't go away til the next season).
