I don't agree. Moving up is part of the game. You wouldn't ask Nintendo to allow people to start on the last level of Super Mario.

Reduce the qualifications for D1 eligibility, sure, but don't allow people to start there.

pro:
- relatively simple change to program (one would think)
- might entice new users to know they can start at a school they've heard of
- might retain users for the same reason
- no substantial difference learning in low D1 vs D3 (I'd suggest letting new users start in any conference where the current prestige is less than C or so, then they are guaranteed a bunch of crappy sims to play and learn against.)

con:
- would probably be the death knell for D3 but it sounds like it's already dead based on the #s

Well if you want to fill up worlds, one of the primary reasons I don't have multiple teams is I have zero interest in moving again through D2/D3.

Its not like I don't know how this game works.

I always suggested allowing people to start at D1 in any world once you were qualified in ONE world.

Working your way up made sense 10 years ago. With D1 populations struggling to stay around 100, open that crap up. Personally, I think the game will play as designed in 3.0 IF you have D1 populations at 200+.

D1 and D3 are different games in so many ways, and there are "pro" level users in all divisions. in my opinion it's not accurate to think of HD divisions as "levels" in this way.

I would have a couple more teams if I didn't have to spend 6 or 7 seasons qualifying for a low D1 team. I'm not spending any more money starting from scratch.

White privilege. Or whatever privilege.

How the **** did you just compare racism to starting in DI?

You're an angry fellow.

I said "whatever privilege" to imply that long-time users would be getting another break over new users. If you want to open up D1, open it up. If not, then don't.

I like that suggestion better.

A safeguard against total noobs getting clobbered by experienced coaches. Sure there are experienced coached in DIII. But EVERYONE in DI has experience.

Mike sometimes I think you argue just for the sake of arguing, even when you don't really believe what you are typing.
