It's a good deal for the Giants. Frees up some fake money (for luxury tax purposes), solves an issue at 3B (no more Panda!), unloads a liability (Span), and gets some RH power.

If they can unload Pence in a similar way and sign a very good CF (Cain?), they'll be much much better in 2018.

Yeah, sign Cain, another aging veteran, to a long term contract they'll be stuck with in a couple of years when he sucks. They need some players under 30!!
