Always fun taking over a school like this, one of the main reasons I took over West New Mexico.

I’m the first human coach of Hartford in 53 seasons.

Moving this over here so I remember.

I'm running a little experiment at UNC Asheville since I'm changing D. I have 3 FR.

Tebo Offense-F Defense-D 3.11 GPA, 63 WE
Bonds Both-F 3.27 GPA, 81 WE
Buie Both-F 3.09 GPA, 47 WE

22 minutes in O, 25 in D. Tebo will start, Buie will get plenty of PT, Bonds won't play much.

Theoretically, with around an extra 95-100m of practice, one would think they players would improve just a little more in D(with the possible exception of Tebo as he starts higher).

Gonna try to update every 10 practices or so.

I've decided to move from Flex/M2M to Triangle/Zone. After scouting 150+ last night, I realize I'm not going to get guys who are proficient at enough skills to play man and Flex(that I've never used) talks of quickness/passing/perimeter. At UNC Asheville, I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to recruit players with warts.

Why Triangle/Zone at low DI? I'd go FB/Press or Motion/Man if you are going to change the O-D.

When you get your job at Kansas, and are getting tons of EE guys, then you can go Triangle zone.

I definitely agree FLEX/Man is not the answer, however.

In order to get UNC A's first NT win, I'm going to have to win a 13/4 or 12/5 game. I'm not going to be able to compete physically with Top 25 teams. So I intend to run slowdown/zone and probably with a 9 man rotation in hopes of stealing a close one. I don't think you need top grade athletes for triangle. I know you don't for zone.

At Weber State, which I started at D- and had D baseline, I was able to go: PI 3R, __, PI F4, 4 seed (1R), 4 seed (S16), 1 seed (S16), 3 seed (S16). Then I left and the year after I left, Weber was by far the best team in the nation. Don't assume anything Mike.

I think you mocked me for picking a team in NC because recruiting would be so tough. Pretty sure Weber State is not in NC.

Mike: I didn't mock you. I'm honestly trying to help you. The difference in location is not 4 Sweet 16s in a row compared to "pulling out" and upset in a 13-4 game once. I'm just saying that you can't assume anything. Don't build a team to be a 13 seed when a 5 seed is possible.

I'm not going to "under recruit", I'm just being prepared for the worst. I think there are 19 SEC/ACC humans in Rupp. I'd love to snag a top 6 PG and top 10 SF along with a couple of top 50 big men, or vice versa, I just don't think I will. There are a lot of good coaches with better programs in my region.

Lmao you went to North Carolina the worst location in Hoops Dynasty. Should have heeded me and went out west...

Mike: look at Crum Big10. 7 teams with A- or better, including Illinois and Northwestern. 9 teams with Top 37 RPI. 4 teams in the Top 12. Yet, this was able to happen.

What are you showing me? I see a team that hasn't won 20 in a dozen seasons and is 10-5 now. They haven't won a NT game in over 20 seasons. Nothing there makes me feel like I'm misjudging my position. It sort of depresses me.

Now back to helping you directly and not bashing you, guys like Seng and Wulff are kinda unplayable in Tri/Zone (and Rupe as of now) but flourish in FB/Press. Those three "misfits" have almost as many FT attempts as FG attempts. They have a median 43 FT attempts per game against SOS 62 in a hella tough world.
