I wouldn't mind seeing a big bill towards infrastructure. We need the work, the improvements. The Tacoma Amtrak incident is a perfect example that improvements need to be made.

I remember Carrier wasn't going to move operations to Mexico either.
40,000 new manufacturing jobs.

Did Carrier lie? What's the latest on them?

Major companies including Cisco Systems Inc., Pfizer Inc. and Coca-Cola Co. say they’ll turn over most gains from proposed corporate tax cuts to their shareholders, undercutting President Donald Trump’s promise that his plan will create jobs and boost wages for the middle class.

The president has held fast to his pledge even as top executives’ comments have run counter to it for months. Instead of hiring more workers or raising their pay, many companies say they’ll first increase dividends or buy back their own shares.

Robert Bradway, chief executive of Amgen Inc., said in an Oct. 25 earnings call that the company has been “actively returning capital in the form of growing dividend and buyback and I’d expect us to continue that.” Executives including Coca-Cola CEO James Quincey, Pfizer Chief Financial Officer Frank D’Amelio and Cisco CFO Kelly Kramer have recently made similar statements.

I don't get it.

I clicked in Cisco and get 4th quarter graphs but we're not there yet.

FORGIVE me. I don't get the links.

I DO get the bill just passed and can base future growth on real life experience from Carter to 8 years of Reagan. I lived it.

Wall is next and then infrastruture

I'm not against the wall, but Trump's pie hole has significantly slowed down illegal crossings on our southern border. With better surveillance and increased border patrols, we might not need it. Maybe focus on the high impact areas if you're gonna build it. We have other fish to fry.

its not worthless. he could be residing under a bridge some day and that cash will keep him in ramen noodles and girlfriends

i am pretty sure he spends it on beer and cigarettes and breakfasts out with his wife right now

If you don't have a retirement plan, whether through a 401k or another venue, it's your own fault.

12/22/2017 10:29 AM
Well some people do live paycheck to paycheck but for the 50mil or so that have 401k and or an IRA the stock buybacks do help.
12/22/2017 10:32 AM
I made 25k a year for the first 6 years after college while married. I still invested for retirement. People that live paycheck to paycheck can find somewhere to cut expenses to put $25-50/wk away. Most people that live paycheck to paycheck have expenses such as cable tv. That's roughly $100+ a month.

I don't say this to be insensitive. I just know from experience that most people can find money to save for retirement if they're disciplined.
