My 401k went up 20% this year and now the tax cut gives my family another $4500? The company I work for had a great 2017 too, after much suffering the previous 8 years. So they are giving me a large raise.

Trump is MAGA.

It looks like I will be able to have a vacation on top of the extra expenses that I have to do next year... and I will have enough money to donate more to the charities that I already donate to.

Just fantastic.

I figured that Trump would end up being a typical Rockefeller Repug. I was wrong about him and the Tea Party was right.

there are something like 130M fulltime workers in the US

so 75M active plans is a decent number

wonder what the average balance is

social security is something like $1500 a month, kinda like my buddy's pension

if the balance at retirement is 550K you'll get another $1500 a month for the rest of your life

so you need to put away $100 a week from the time you're 20

so strikeout hits one outta the park

Those years when funds weren't performing well were not lost years. You were buying shares that have increased in value. A stock that has a poor year or two is still viable if it does well long term. You bought cheap when it was struggling. Is why those 5 and 10 year fund averages are key.

15%? another 15% with pensions gonna die soon?

i got a buddy from work has a pension. he gets $300 a month direct deposited for the rest of his life

its not worthless. he could be residing under a bridge some day and that cash will keep him in ramen noodles and girlfriends

i am pretty sure he spends it on beer and cigarettes and breakfasts out with his wife right now
THAT'S HORRIBLE! ONLY $300. For how many years doing what?

I wish my boss would give me a pension. THAT along with my 401K and SOCIAL SECURITY and my LIFES SAVINGS....NOW WE'RE TALKING SOME MONEY!

but it doesn't help the middle class

It does in their 401K plans and such
How many people in this country have 401k's? Give me a wild guess.
I figure about half the workers in America. Maybe more. The number will rise with better immigration laws and less needless government regulation and lower taxes. The less the Government takes from Employers is more they can give to employees.

Trump on Nov. 29: “This is going to cost me a fortune, this thing. Believe me. Believe. This is not good for me... I have some very wealthy friends - not so happy with me. But that's OK.” https://t.co/YbXjfY4O6j

Trump last night to his wealthy friends at Mar-A-Lago

"You all just got a lot richer," referencing the sweeping tax overhaul he signed into law hours earlier. Mr. Trump directed those comments to friends dining nearby at the exclusive club

How about that ATT

AT&T will layoff and fire more than a thousand workers starting early next year, according to local reports.

Across the Midwest, an estimated 600 workers were notified they were being laid off by the company on December 16, a week before the company announced it was doling out $1,000 bonuses to 200,000 of its employees in celebration of the Republican Party's tax overhaul.

The telecommunications giant told the Chicago Tribune in a statement that the layoffs were part of its “workforce adjustment" strategy for its declining legacy services.

Companies do this crap and then have the nerve to complain that employees aren't loyal and dedicated anymore. If you want loyal and dedicated employees, you have to be loyal and dedicated to them.
