Is a stupid stat for stupid people.

Unsuprisingly, tec loves it.

Winning consistently takes skill not luck. I 100% completely disagree with your opinion here.

Thanks for classifying yourself.

Anyone else want to jump on to the list with tec and cccp?

Wait. So you believe that CONSISTENT winning is luck?

Cy Young and Jack Chesbro think you're full of ****.

How many 300 game winners were "lucky"? They were either very skilled over very pliable as they were able to pitch for a long time and collect the wins. Either way wins do usually equate to good pitching (maybe not for a season but definitely for a career).

Of the top of my head, Tom Glavine.

Realistically, you don't see bad pitchers getting 300 wins because bad pitchers don't pitch long enough to get 300 wins. It's the same reason why the all time Loss leaders also tend to be great pitchers.

Is Glavine also an "average pitcher undeserving of the Hall of Fame"?

He was significantly better than Catfish Hunter but I think he sits just above the line for acceptability in the Hall. He wasn't as good as Mussina.

In other words, Glavine was just slightly above HOF average, not MLB average.

Glavine? Who won 100 more games than he lost?

-- 2x Cy Young award winner
-- 10x All Star
-- WS MVP
-- 5x 20 game winner

How many Cy Young awards did Moose win?

Moose was good btw but Glavine was better.

I mentioned this before but I recently read "Living on the Black". It followed both Glavine and Mussina thru the 2007 season. You know what both of them talked about non-stop?

GETTING WINS!!!!

Both seemed obsessed with getting wins on their records.

They aren’t dumb but yeah. Worry about how many runs you allow. That’s the way to help the team win.
