A bit of movie trivia. This was John Wayne's first major starring role. The director wanted Gary Cooper for the role but he was under contract to another studio. John Wayne was discovered loading furniture into a truck. The producers didn't like his given name, Marrion Morrison, so they changed it and the rest is history.
