Why did he catch it 60 times one year and 11 the next?
It’s more like he caught that 60% liner 80% one year and 40% the next.
So dWAR stats are pretty unreliable? I can get behind that.

I actually like the angle/foot speed that was done last year. That can probably be turned into something useful. Unlike dWAR.
Why would that make dWAR unreliable?

Because, evidently, dWAR simply judges on balls caught/not caught. You know, like the fielding % you hate.

It’s called an example.

Fantastic. If the stat you love is just an "example", I'll pass.

Is Trout a great fielder or below average? In your opinion, of course.

Jesus Christ. The low liner was an example.

Jesus Christ. Is Trout one of the best fielders of all-time or simply below average?

You already said you’re passing on dWAR and you lack the ability to comprehend that fielder performance can vary, so what’s the point of continuing?
12/31/2017 6:41 PM
And FWIW, Trout is a slightly above average center fielder.

Answering questions with questions?

Regardless of what the stats say, I saw him play, and the guy was to me the best glove in the game. Most contemporary players viewed him as the top shortstop in the game. The media did too. And he did it for a long time. The guy is an out and out Hall of Famer in my opinion
Similar to a certain pitcher from the 1970s.
Sure, in that neither belong in the Hall.
Fair enough. That's your opinion. I have a question. And I am absolutely not trying to bait you here, I'm just curious as to what you think. Is Harmon Killebrew a Hall of Famer? Because he's the guy I really do question the most.
12/31/2017 7:09 PM
I think he belongs. 143 OPS+. His raw triple slash doesn’t look super flashy, especially if you consider him a first baseman, but when you consider the fact that the bulk of his career coincided with an extremely depressed offensive environment, you see that he had a stand out bat.

But I also think he sits somewhere near the cutoff line.

I'm sure there are many things Mike does not have the ability to comprehend.
