You also have the prospects that were protected as part of the 1969 season.

Yeah I think that's what occsid was referring to, those prospects pre-69' that would've been in this draft. And, basically that's what my question was, I guess we'll be seeing the same thing for the next 2 or 3 yrs, for any prospects that were protected as part of the pre-69, and the few that were protected as part of the 'one-time prospect draft'
3/21/2005 10:24 PM
So that's 6 for 71' from the pre-69' draft , and I know that 1 of my protected players, J.Matlack will also be debuting next yr.

Which is nothing compared to the 14 that were protected for the 70' draft, so if the pool is comparable, it shouldn't be that bad next yr.

With my third and last pick of the second round I will take P - Bill Zepp.

Now I have two guys pegged for my last selection in the third round, Please leave me one of them.

I had the #1 pick in the 1971 Centennial League draft, where there were no protected prospects, and I did take Matlack (still going strong for me in 1978, btw).

Well, that's encouraging news

Will this season will be an about face for the TEX staff, not necessarily in talent, more in endurance. Mind you Aker, Hall, Richert, & Selma will be in the pen, 3 of which Aker, Hall, and Richert have 1.10, 1.03, and 1.10 WHIPs respectively, 3 of the top 12 for relievers this year

69' saw about 3/4 of the staff in RED for about 1/2 the season. Which was partially due to trading away a 200+ IP guy in Kirby for Foster and a 1st rounder....oh well, my mistake, didn't realize it at the time, but that #1 turned into M.Torrez in a deal with SD, and now we have a total of 1800 IPs.

You have to love the rebuilding yrs.
