Ever See A Better D2 RB Signed ? Topic

Heh. There is nothing like a great RB in this game . The great ones can spearhead an attack.
But I still have great ideas for a shotgun Run Game. This would have to be based on having qb that can run or pass so qb would have to have high Elus and Str. Speed can be over 50 (d2).
Qb does all rushing inside and top WR does all running outside.
Most defenses will setup vs pass almost if not completely 100 percent.
Im thinking with right players this might be very effective.
Did this exactly to a title in Leahy.

I tried something similar in Div1 AA. Only got to year 4 though because I didn't like recruiting at that level. Would like to try it for Div 2 but it takes sooo long to get it set up right.

Hmm. I'd like to try it . but to convert one of my teams would mean start practicing Shotgun while still playing my current formation. And doing this for at least 2 seasons before actually playing it.
Like Realist said, it would take sooo long to get it right. Still......
Might just try it ?

Not taking into account behind the scenes differences in formations ( I don't know how the game engine treats each formation). Every time I consider going Shotgun, I try and figure out what the advantage is over Trips? I can think of a few small roster advantages going SG vs trips, but even more disadvantages.

I'm not sure if an all pass SG is any more effective than an all pass Trips. What would be painful is to have an all world RB on your doorsteps just waiting to be recruited. Yet you let him go because he is no use to you.

I am almost done setting up with the WB experiment. I dropped Trips to use it. So far I am missing how much more explosive Trips is.

If I was gonna go all pass shotgun I would go trips since it gives you the option of the rb which is huge IMO. And the rb can be every bit as good a receiver as the 4th WR in shotgun. Or he can block for the 3 WR. To me trips is by far the more versatile offense.
I have a top 2 or 3 team in D2 Stagg with great Defense. Was beaten in playoffs by a Trips team. It was close but he won.
I never had success with WB - but others have so it certainly can be done.

Agree 100%

I won this past season with an offense that was 35% trips and 65% WB.(last year of switchover) This year will be 100% WB. Both run and pass. Still deciding on roster breakdown #s

I had a RB named Anthony Caudill in Camp D2 at Valdosta State a few seasons back, started at 74 speed, 78 strength, 69 elusiveness. I redshirted him and he ended up at 82 speed, 86 strength, and 78 elusiveness. Think I signed him in season 134. He had 3 straight seasons with over 2,000 yards rushing AND 2,000 yards receiving.
