My personal NL only fantasy baseball league lost two owners over the offseason and we currently have nine teams. We would like to have 11. It is a "keeper" league, NL only, which is very fun, realistic and entertaining.
When a player gets drafted in AUCTION style draft before the season, the dollar amount the bid is won with becomes that players salary. Players can be kept for no more than FIVE seasons. For example, I drafted Albert Pujols his rookie year when he was an unknown for $3. I had him for $3 for the first two seasons. After the 2nd season, a player goes into a "contract year", meaning an owner can keep him for a 3rd season at $3 in Pujols case and then he goes back into the draft. OR, he can keep him for the upcoming 3rd season and a 4th for $8 ($3 + $5). OR he can keep him for the 3rd season and TWO more years for $13 ($3 plue $10 additional dollars). OR he can dump the player back in the draft after two seasons.
It may sound complicated but once you get the hang of it, it's easy and pretty realistic of being a real GM. We would be doing the draft online on CBS Sports.com. This league has been around since 1995 and originated in Rochester, NY. This would be our first draft that would be entirely online.
If anyone might be interested in at least checking out the teams they could inherit, SM me with your e-mail address and I will send you the rosters. The entry fee for the league is currently $125 but we are voting on lowering it and also giving a discounted 1st year rate to entice new potential owners.
Thanks for your attention guys!
