Darvish to Cubs Topic

He wanted to be on the West Coast, in warm weather... or take the most money he was offered.

I thought that was Nick Foles?

yeah, right...and that's why he signed with the Cubs

Does anyone really have a problem with players signing the biggest deal they can get?

nope. Although it does bother me a bit when someone says "its not about the money" and then sign a deal that is obviously about the money. AROD comes to mind.

Not at all. But say "I want the most money" not "I want --insert something besides the most money--" when you want the most money.

In this case, he signed with the cubs. It’s not necessarily a money issue.

didn't say it was. and he never said its not about the money (at least as far as I know, he didn't)

Maybe it’s not that simple. Maybe it’s not about the money for the right team but, for others, the money better be there.

Or maybe it is that simple.

I seem to recall Glavine "thinking" about taking a discount home town deal with the Braves and the MLBPA saying "Uh, no. Take the money" and then he signed with the Mets.

I tend to think it's "I want the most money possible" until someone proves it isn't.

Are we still talking about Darvish?

I think that used to be something the union pushed hard for. I don’t think it’s necessarily the case anymore. Also, I don’t care if it is. The players have seen their share of the revenue dip way down to the low 40% range. That’s way too low. They need to do better negotiating the next CBA.

No, we're talking about players saying "It's not about the money" when it clearly is. If that applies to Darvish, so be it. I don't give a damn about revenue range or CBAs.

First post. That's the topic.
