Anyone can have Maddux on their roster... They just can't build their team off of Maddux once you claim him.

Thank you! That is the answer I needed. Very early on, I played in a league that used the same criteria for 3 consecutive leagues. Heading right now to report for my first day of jury duty which begins in an hour. Will have my team in this evening.

Just go in there dressed conservatively, cross your arms and do a lot of harumphing. The defense will dismiss you in a heartbeat.
Criminal defense lawyer here... It's much easier to get the boot from the prosecution than the defense. No one likes criminals, so the defense is limited in the amount of challenges they can actually use. But if you go in there and say, "I'm a Christian and believe that no one should judge a man but my Father in Heaven. If I'm asked to do it, I'd have to look at the accused and consider that his sins are forgiven by Jesus Christ himself." I absolutely guarantee 100% of the time the prosecution will strike you from the panel.
