I'd like to take a shot with the 1925 Washington Senators.

two questions:
1) can i twist players to any season or just ones played for the Senators?
2) same question as above re the franchise hero?

1) Any season
2) For your Hero, it needs to be a season in which he played for your franchise. In your case, you can use the Senators or Twins.

Welcome!

We've been filling rather rapidly. Since I want to keep this momentum going, I'm going to recommend another team... I think the 1926 Yankees would be a lot of fun, and a true contender in this league. How much of a plug do you need to be convinced that a lineup built around Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, etc. would be quite formidable in this format? Also consider that the 1926 Yankees pitching staff featured Garland Braxton, Dutch Ruether and Bob Shawkey. With those guys, you've got a good start to your rotation. Throw in a Hero like Tiny Bonham or Fritz Peterson, and you'll be sending out a solid SP every single game. You shouldn't really need any more than "solid" from your starters when you've got a Murderer's Row lineup putting up lots of crooked numbers on the board.

Speaking of 1926, Rogers Hornsby's 1926 St. Louis Cardinals are worth a look, as well... You'd be able to build your offense around big bats like Hornsby, Jim Bottomley and Chick Hafey. The pitching staff is anchored by Pete Alexander, with help from Jesse Haines and Alan Sothoron. The addition of a Hero like Bob Gibson or Chris Carpenter to that rotation could give you a darn good group of pitchers. Or you could stick a slick fielding speedster like Ozzie Smith at the top of the batting order.

I'll take a second team with Bobby Cox's 1998 Braves.

We just need one more team to get to 24. Plenty of excellent options are still available... Another one I considered was the 1910 Pittsburgh Pirates. The '09 Pirates made the postseason in a previous iteration of Twist w/ a Hero. With a lineup built around Honus Wagner, Max Carey and Fred Clarke, you're going to have a team that creates lots of run scoring opportunities. Adding a Hero like Arky Vaughan would help you offensively and defensively. But, then again, it might be hard to resist the temptation to upgrade your offense by adding an all around beast like 1992 Barry Bonds. The pitching staff looks extremely strong, with Babe Adams, Deacon Phillippe and Howie Camnitz as the guys you'd undoubtedly be building around. Sign up today!

Well, I've made the playoffs in previous seasons with the 2009 Cardinals and 2009 Phillies. So I think I'm going to try to go 3-for-3 with the 2009 L.A. Dodgers.
